Official 2026 NRL General Discussion

100%

I'm sure Gal is still doing this for us tbh, and Fitz himself carries similar weight with his playing experience and involvement in the rep arena.

I wonder where we'd be if Gal stayed around Parra or moved to Manly early in his career.

No Gal, no premiership. It really is that simple in my mind.

Deserved or not, the stench of nepotism will follow him.
But if Tanah Boyd can carve a decent NRL career, there's still hope for FlanJu.
“Nepotism” only gets bandied about for less than great players in underperforming teams. I don’t think I have ever heard it in relation to the Clearys.

Boyd always had some good attributes. No surprise is going well under a decent coach at a better club than the Titans.

The Flanagan comparisons to what he did with us are understandable.

I think one of the big differences is that we actually hit rock bottom before he took over, so there really was only one direction we could go. Credit goes to Flanno that he he took us right to the top.

09 was rock bottom, he came in midway through 10.

14 again was rock bottom, he came back in 15.

The problem at the Dragons is that they’ve been sinking for a while and he has contributed to it. This might be rock bottom, or maybe there’s more to come.

After that Cowboys loss at Kogarah, he was a dead man walking.

He didn't have Darren Mooney to help him recruit, nor well respected senior players.

The other issue is these new ****ed up rules definitely don't suit flannoball...

It also definitely shouldn’t go unnoticed that the two biggest basket case clubs in the NRL the past few years have been the two joint ventured clubs.

All I can say is thank god we fought back against that proposed South Sydney merger after Super League ended.
Gold Coast say hello
