Official 2026 NRL General Discussion

Dumb change with penalties only given in the 20m zone, not 40m anymore

In fact 6 again is just dumb, get rid of it!
I think it's a good change, although for me, 30m would be the sweet spot.

But if you just don't like it because you don't like 6 again you're out of luck. They aint leaving.

6 agains, I think, are good in principle - issue is unclear applications (too often not even sure what it was for) and no clarity on either how often they are correct, or how consistent they are.

They counteract the overly pessimistic goal line play where teams would just endlessly give away penalties and slow the game down. They also are a bit more fair for some minor infractions that really don't deserve a penalty (especially mid field).
But application of them still needs work.

If Joey Manu or Papz want to come back to the NRL - I really hope we at least throw our hat in the ring to try sign one of them.
I wouldn't bother with Papz anymore, he's too injury prone, nowhere near as talented as he use to be, if we do want to I'd still have Ison as 2nd choice behind Kennedy, sign Papz to play FB for Jets after Ison if allowed haha.

Looks like the Tigers tried a cheeky way of boosting member numbers by selling initial tickets to home games as 'One Game Memberships' at inflated prices.

This has caused a backlash of complaints, resulting in a press release to be issued

Years ago I bought a couple tickets on Groupon for a Sharks v Panthers game at Penrith.

Ever since, around this time of year Penrith calls me asking if I want to renew my membership so guessing me and the misuses were counted in their members numbers that year.

Bloody dodgy bastards.

Souths did the same, when it was a Souths Home game here in Perth.

Lol Manly

Manly has outlined its defence in a $5 million lawsuit launched by former forward Lloyd Perrett, claiming any alleged injuries suffered were the result of his own negligence after he turned up to the start of pre-season training out of shape and without a water bottle.

So Payne Haas is leaving Bronctards at the end of the year.

Where is he going?

Not sure if it's been posted but Jaimin Joliffe is out for the Titans for the entire 2026 after doing his ACL a few weeks back.

Titans depth is sure to be tested this season.
