Official 2026 NRL General Discussion

Fainu with a 3 week suspension, I didn't even think it should have been a penalty.

Agreed very harsh

Apparently he'd received 2 concerning act notices in the past about diving shoulder first into peoples knees though.

Possible he's caused an injury in cup with this action before?

Ok wasn't aware of that, wonder if it was raised in the hearing.

Foz. Idiot. He's not much chop at FB if he's not on the field.

Manly coach Kieran Foran says Tom Trbojevic will always remain his first-choice fullback and insists there are zero plans to move his superstar to the centres for the sake of preserving his hamstrings.

“He’s an out-and-out No.1. I know he can play centres at rep level, and he’s done a phenomenal job. But when you talk about No.1s and what they need to be like in the modern game, he epitomises everything an elite No. 1 should be.

“His decision-making and ball playing and execution and skill level is so elite. Then you think about his support play, his defensive try saves … I truly believe if you moved Tom Trbojevic to the centres, you’d be under-utilising one of the great footy minds of our generation.

“That’s not taking anything away from the centre position. But while Tom Trbojevic is fit and healthy, he will always be fullback at this club.”

I think Foz knows that it he loses the faith of Tom, he loses Jake... Which means he loses the whole dressing room. And probably his job (if history is shutting to go by).

Jake is 31... How long can he have left? Surely he's not playing for another 3 years? I think Jake leaving is the only way to make a change for Tom

I have heard multiple people talk about Tom Trbojevic as "one of the great footy minds", I believe that Foz is not saying this for any reason other than the fact he believes it. Apparently (source: Justin Horo's podcast) when Tom sits in the coaches box, he notices and calls plays out 2 or 3 minutes out from them happening.

My mate was one of those data analysts that sits in the coaches boxes at Manly a while back and she said that Tom is legit like Magnus Carlson/Rainman... he just sees the game at a level so far above the rest.

So long as he’s not a legit Hans Niemann
Or the tensing could be what is causing the hams to go…

Impressive, considering this is more than enough to see 3 sets unfold.

Not a whole lot of fumbles and penalties in chess either.

I believe it.

Could explain why Foz will keep playing him at FB; he knows he'll get injured soon enough and be in the box helping him coach. Genius.

Pity he couldn't see his hammy about to go three sets in advance!

Never did his hammy in the coach's box... I think.
And that's the problem, he needs more separation (okay maybe not the right word when discussing hammies) or let's say distantiation to be at his analytic best.

In saying that, all jokes aside, @Hughesy215 brought up something interesting.
