Looks like the events being held on Shark Park are impacting it being ready pre-season 2026 -

Sun 9 Nov 2025

Going west for Souths and Sharks; pre-season whispers

South Sydney (v Canberra) and Cronulla (v Sydney) are set to host an Optus Stadium double header in Perth on April 11, according to the latest fixture drip-feed from News Corp.

Pre-season games are also in the spotlight:

  • Warriors to host a game at McLean Park in Napier
  • Canberra will use Seiffert Oval
  • Cronulla hosting at Jubilee Stadium
  • Melbourne on the Sunshine Coast
  • Manly at Gosford
per "League Unlimited "
They said it was getting re-surfaced so probably just giving it as much time as possible to br ready for next year.

Much of this is due to the AFC Women’s Cup being held at Accor and CommBank during March.
The Sharks are apparently the only Sydney-based club to be playing host during the opening round of the season while every other club will be on the road for a number of weeks.
Good to see the Warriors taking games around New Zealand. This really needs to be done more the once every other year IMO. Let’s see games taken to Hamilton, Christchurch, Napier, Dunedin and Wellington on a more regular basis.

Not sure taking pre season games to Jubilee has anything to do with the Asian Cup .

Taking a game to Perth is more about the $$$s on offer for the Sharks as it was in 2025 because it wont be available in 2027 Nice place Perth but I am not so keen to be travelling there again next year for a game week after Easter on last weekend of school holidays but if may suit others .

As I’ve said elsewhere on these forums, I think all trials should take place in country areas and each NRL club should be allocated an area to partner with: hold coaching clinics and have a regular season game there etc.
The money will always dictate where games are taken especially for the Sharks who don’t make the sort of gate revenue that the other Sydney clubs do. Perth was always going to get a few games in 2026 ahead of the Bears coming in.
Next year it will be somewhere else as the NRL shifts its focus onto the most likely suitors for team #20.

Sounds as though the Sharks will open 2026 at home to the Roosters.
So we'd play them approx March 7th or 8th and again 5 weeks later in Perth?

... yeah actually that is entirely possible...

Although atm sounding like we would be home team for both which seems less likely
