All I am saying is, after the fade outs of the past two seasons
Everything should be on the table
It has to be competition for spots, no favorites , no guarantees
Except Nicho of course, poster boy million $ man not withstanding

The competition has to be intense, training thru pre-season games
Picking teams is above my pay grade and expertise , no clue on Coach Fitzgibbons threshold of accountability

I do know trying the same thing and expecting different results won't work
We should try playing with a healthy team then 😉

I do no know how you highlight the text , like make it bold, as you do
Having said that,
I was under the impression that Bomber was fired because our reputation , which seems is backed by evidence , that, we cannot advance in the finals, have no form matching with the heavyweights; and front office thought Coach Fitzgibbon was the savior, but maybe I am wrong.

I hear everything you say, about who or where we can/could improve; and you certainly do great analytics ; and I can appreciate your knowledge; but to the eye test, I feel we have a some brittle big guys, I know injuries are part of a collision sport.
BHU is definitely a frustrating one. Excluding suspensions, for the most part the others (Jack, Toby, Teig and Dale) really all just missed one big chuck of 7+ weeks with a single injury. It would have been great to have one more guy who could play at BHU’s level. The depth middles were great in their own roles but weren’t ready to play bigger ones. Those guys do have some improvement in them imho.

I want to be confident, maybe it is that the Coach hasn't been able to get everything exactly like he wants, maybe,
And maybe he has a book titled " Plan B " gathering dust somewhere
I think we saw plan B in full flight once they knew they were going down the stretch without Kennedy and Finucane. Also losing BHU and Hazelton made things tough.

Is it just me , or does Kade Dykes look severely bigger than at the start of last pre-season?
Again just my eye test, he looks to have packed on about 40 lbs of muscle give or take
A lot of people have said that. Not sure we saw much of him last pre-season. Probably bigger than 2022.

I would like to see some rookies make a splash, like Iro, Dykes.

For me personally, I know I will have a lot of opposition to my analysis, but I think Hynes is not a halfback, and Talakai is not a center , but he does have the softest hands of any big guy bar none .

I think Coach Fitzgibbon has made big calls , does he get another season of Hynes at halfback and Talakai at center if we fail again?

Just saying stuff out loud

I hope I am wrong.

Some good points made!
It is shame the vital guys like BHU haven't really kicked on, for one reason or another

Idk but to me in general , at least by measure of optics ( granted not a realiable guide );
As a club , for several seasons we seem to stick stubbornly playing a guy out of position
Example :
Capewell , playing on the wing, worst winger I have ever seen, not even close
I know that wasn't under Fitzgibbon
But also Sifa , now granted he did play well , early in 2022 in the center position, but it should have been merely a stop gap situation, then the media built him up way too much, and when he was outmatched by Staggs, and then the subsequent Origin debacle, he was never the same , But again, seemingly stubbornly , he ramains a center, and got exposed a lot , especially in the 2nd final, he was diabolical
I think Sifa could play prop
And for me personally , I just think Nicho was thrown into that halfback role way too soon and has gone dramatically backwards, we seem to be the only ones who consider Nicho a halfback, he keeps getting jerked around by NSW selectors or whoever
I take your point that Coach Fitzgibbon likely already tried his Plan B
I hope then Plan C, has a blueprint, for a more orthodox approach and play people in their natural position, and blood guys like Iro and Dykes , from what I saw, Dykes was a stringbean last year , he looks the Incredible Hulk , I hope he is a standout next year.

Which game do you mean with Sifa?

2nd final? Do you mean the second half of the final? He didn’t play the 2022 Souths game.

It was the Roosters game , the very last final
Couldn't have done his confidence any good, will have to see how they hit the ground running next year

Ok. Thanks.

I didn’t think he was exposed too badly. He jammed in a few times and missed tackles but still killed the play. That edge got stripped for numbers a couple of times too.

Imo “if you are going to jam in you have to make the tackle” is just commentary team nonsense. A jam and a miss is not always a negative play. Plenty of time a player jams in and forces a rushed pass or makes the attacker step back in to traffic etc.

I do think that Sifa and Tricky were pretty awful together in attack though. Never looked on the same page. Sifa works best off early ball. Tricky wants to hang on to it for a bit longer and pick his runner. Didn’t gel at all. Was the same with SJ and Ramien. So many passes used to hit the deck, or Jesse would get smashed as he got it. Just didn't suit each other.

You don't get good articles written about you by only sticking with the nice guys
Hopefully Fitz reaches out and lets him know he's exactly the kind of mongrel journo we need to make readers fear us

Tried to dig up if he’s ever had an AC joint injury, couldn’t find anything (too many ACL injuries)… clearly has at some stage though
Would have played through it
