The rule is that a player can’t be in the 13 for an NRL game and then play NSW Cup. No restrictions on bench players doing it.

So if the FG coach is willing to burn an interchange he can sub on that player from the bench in the first minute straight after kickoff - if say that player is a half or someone basically an 80 min player but the coach still wants them to get the experience of week to week NSW cup despite filling in for FG on occasion

He’s too good for reserve grade, it feels like only a matter of time until an nrl club offers him a starting spot and he takes it. Hopefully he sticks around and can nail down a spot with us before that happens

Seems like some in here would be but I wouldn’t be worried to come up against Tricky playing at another club

He gets a free year to prove he is the next 6 ahead of Dykes - still competing with Puru and Atkinson - plus will go into next year with the lead on all those guys due to more NRL experience. If he can’t secure the job ahead of one of them I’ll be impressed by them rather than sad to see Tricky go.

Miller was too good for reserve grade too

I'd be more worried if he was only signed through '24, but less likely for that to happen, this year at least, with him signed through '25.

Yeah but you know how it normally works if a player really wants out.... unfortunately.

23-10 with not long to go

this set up is infuriating

trindall went to coffs harbour the week before then drove himself back to play for newtown

this week, no first grade, no injury, no game time

how the **** does this help mhim
Yep I really find is frustrating as well, he's had a such a disjointed season.

That is the problem with this set up.

The Sharks need players to be played and played in position so they can be ready for if and when they get a call up.

Im not against the alignment with the Jets but we need our players to be NRL ready in their positions

its really odd, i love the jets but the alignment is far from spectacular

tracey was playing fullback, hiroti in the centres, yet talakai goes down injured and tracey comes up

it makes no sense, but we have been real negligent with braydon trindall this year

I remember this topic came up not too long ago and I still completely agree. The Jets affiliation has been very beneficial in a lot of ways but it does in some ways take the development of our fringe players and our next generation out of our hands.

I firmly believe Fitz needs more say on how the reserves team sets up so he can develop these guys to play the way he wants them to play. Its just harder to get our next in line to play Fitz brand football when you’ve got the Jets doing their own thing.

I love the Jets but I can’t wait for us to finally have our own reserves team again, coached by guys hand picked by Fitz and his team. I hope it happens sooner rather than later.

The club seems to be a lot better run overall now, so does anyone see us with our own reserve grade in the near future. Souths and the rorters have dropped their affiliated clubs in favour of there own set ups this season so it is maybe the future for us, with Fitz basically in control it can only be beneficial for FG.

Basically comes down to money. I'm sure we'd love to, whether or not we have the cash to do it....I don't know.

Would love a legitimate nrl reserve grade comp.
Played before every NRL game, extra costs would easily be covered by televising every game and more sponsorship money.

That would be a bonus if they played before FG, and not as a stand alone game at a different ground. Some supporters would go early to watch both games and the Reggie supporters would would most likely stay on for the firsts. We had this before, but "wiser" heads done away with it.

I think they should do this with NRLW matches this season.
It would also help build their brand IMHO
