The more you win the ruck the more you earn the right to spread. The more you spread the more errors you will naturally have. We play pass heavy football too, which again no matter how good you play will increase errors.

Obviously some like Dales ones somewhat unrelated.

We sit 4th in league for errors but also sit 4th for offloads, NRL doesn’t keep a passes stat readily available* on their site but our 6,7,9 touch ball 225 times per game atm which is higher than Panthers (209), Eels (207), Rabbits (203), Storm (189) (didn’t look at other teams but all would be lower).

Hynes and Moylan sit 20th and 38th for touches which is better than any of these other teams… eg Panthers halves are ranked 25/49 and Rabbits 30/35. Storm similar to rabbits in them being a closer split, 33/39.

I haven’t made it but you could marginally correct for possession. We are max 2% ahead of Storm and Rabbits

*Fox does keep a passes stat, we sit second on 588 total, behind Dragons on 623, ahead of Panthers on 563.
Storm are 14th with 446

The work of our halves and forwards to move the ball around helps us win the ruck, which helps us earn chances to spread. Both come with more risk of the odd error. The important thing is to make sure we are not trying to do this ball movement when we haven’t earned it or just for the sake when it’s not on

There no really point to this post, it’s just stays with some comment, take from it what you want

Thanks Bort. For what is supposed to be a simple game, there is a real science to it isn't there?

One thing I've also noticed we do and it's usually hynes doing it is that he isn't afraid to spread it from inside our half and usually results in a 20 metre gain

Ive noticed that gains in metres too, with throwing it around inside our half.

Early rumour is Hastings will be named at 7 with Brooks being shifted to 6.
Both Gildart and Maumalo to be dropped, as well as Liddle for Simpkins.

Why not. Though sounds like they're giving Brooks a big old slice of blame pie

Hastings (along with edges) has been their best player so I think makes sense to give him the keys.
Take some pressure off Brooks at same time.

Hastings paid for own flights and accommodation to go to gold coast when their board declined his request to travel with team, and then was sat in coaches box. So he wants to be there, he wants to be a leader, he and Maguire obviously on fairly similar page.
The boys have seen him reach into his own pocket to be there for them, I think it's a smart move.

So I think even more than blaming Brooks it is Maguire saying 'this is our leader boys, let's follow him'

Watch for a big improvement from them next week, by scoring a try outside of garbage time.

They badly need Doueihi and Utoikamanu back on the park.

That was a debacle, the whole thing about Hastings not being able to go.
Maybe that lessening of responsibilty to free Brooks up... He has some talent. Still, Brooks shouldn't need to be asked to hand the keys over with his experience. I don't think it says great things about how the Tigers feel about Brooks.

I think it is more about giving the leadership to the guy demanding it and at the same time taking pressure off the guy being lumped with it.
I don't think it necessarily has to be a knock on Brooks from them. Brooks has never really stood out as an inspiring leader.

Yes the board refusing to let Hastings go when he asked was a debacle but I think per my comments above may actually benefit the team in the end. Still, they are too awful to climb the ladder until they can get the other two back on the park. They have potential to try fight their way off the spoon if they can get them sooner rather than later.

They also need to figure out how to use Peachey properly I think. He is a good player but if you don't incorporate how he wants to be involved into your game plan he gets in the way.

Mmmm... Brooks hasn't exactly grown into the role, which has been a problem for the Tigers. But yep, if there's someone chomping at the bit to take that role it's best all round to let him take a crack at it.

Peachy has started to look like the rest of the team. His energy and scheming'ness seems to have left him. It doesn't give you a good impression of the culture when you see decent players turn into poop

Brooks is a worse player then Chad Townsend.. how they have persisted with him is crazy. Even the warriors flicked SJ
