Most promising was that he was in position for there to be a chance I reckon. Really good signs for a first hitout.
Was really vocal too. There was a shot as they were getting ready for the opening kickoff where he was giving everyone a good long talking to... didn't look like anyone was paying much attention but the intent was good from the kid :)
This made me laugh, so thank you

Dykes is down for 4 ****ing handling errors and I need to explain how he was shakey at times? I didn't even relise it was 4 until I checked the stats just now.

He ****ed up that break himself running flat in line with Ronnie and right next to him for no reason - I could see that pair making a meal of it and the mistake coming well before Ronnie even passed the ball, I was begging Dykes to make some lateral room for the pass and drop back a bit. Yes Ronnie could have chosen a different pass but Dykes could have made it a tonne easier for him.

Dykes made me miss Kennedy at times who is so safe and reliable but Dykes is young, first game. I see promise - I liked alot of what he did in terms of his runs and carries and what he did at the back defensively (didn't miss a tackle btw). Metcalf might have offered us similar in attack without as many errors but we know that bloke isn't playing again for us barring an injury crises and I doubt he would have been superior to Dykes defensively.

FMD all I said was Miller might be there to lend some assistance if required, not that Dykes isn't a great prospect and he should get more steady and confident over the coming games. Cause honestly I don't know otherwise why Miller has been picked on the wing over Ikavalu or Hiroti who both have way more experience and some runs on the board (even if Hitoti is stinky at times he has also shown he can play)

Yep. He had two more errors in addition to the one you mentioned and one was off a woeful pass from Hynes and the other off a stinker from Ronaldo.
That pass for Hynes was bad but what was good was that he actually tried to make the most if it and tried to step inside the defender while catching it so that if he did hang onto it he would’ve been in space.. it was a little thing but it was impressive

Ronnie should’ve passed it straight away instead of having that second little dip.

That one you are talking about should be on Ronnie

Yeah that was all on Ronnie. A stupid flick pass at that speed wasn’t on. Simple two handed pass and he’s away.

I think if you watch the play he flick passed it because of the position his hand and ball ended up in. He was in no position to regather and then provide a two hand pass. He should have just tried to secure the ball and go to ground.

I thought Ronnie should have pinned the ears back and gone for it himself.

I‘ll have to have another look, but to me, he looked like he was just about clear and was trying to give Dykes his first NRL try on debut.

He maybe should have went himself. But the pass he chose was based off where the ball was and how it was held IMO.
