As a fan , I'd be stoked with home of the Sharks plastered all over it ( Sharks Glasses )
I see both sides , if the City's Olympic Stadium had Home of the Rabbitohs up in lights plastered on the side of the stadium itself , come the Olympics in year 2000 , I feel most of Sydney would complain .
STUFF the Roosters thinking they own it :)
Just my thoughts and I believe Rabbits should be able to negotiate home games there too , it is in their historic geographic area , without the Roosters trying to block it .
Like Bronco's not wanting to share Suncorp with Dolphins and Home of the Bronco's signs all over it
Sounds like Chooks are their key tenants who keep the lights on for everyone else. If you're renting the majority of a building year round but I hire a conference room for a month should I be entitled to the same "ownership" as you?

Rabbits have tenancy agreements with another stadium. Suncorp is home of Broncos. Dolphins are from Redcliffe and will have their own ground.

As you said you'd like it for us but not them so you see its good business. Politis isn't mega rich because he concedes ground and makes rivals comfortable.

Fair Call on most of the above .
Maybe my Roosters hatred coming through , actually forget maybe :)

A cross-code war has erupted after Sydney FC erected a Bunnings tarpaulin over the Sydney Roosters logo at Allianz Stadium on the weekend.
Ahead of Saturday evening’s A-League match against Melbourne Victory, Sydney FC’s first home game at the newly-constructed venue, an illuminated sign outside the $830 million stadium that reads “Home of the Sydney Roosters” was covered by the $150 tarp.

As revealed by The Daily Telegraph, Roosters chief executive Joe Kelly and Sydney FC boss Adam Santo had a furious phone exchange over the issue on Tuesday

https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nrl-premiership/match-centre/NRL20222901/match-report
“I told him what he’d done was the equivalent of vandalism,” Kelly told the News Corp publication.
“I also told him we’d be looking at our legal options, then he hung up on me.”
The Roosters contacted Venues NSW to vent their frustration after the incident, and it was agreed that lights behind the sign would be switched off for future Sydney FC and NSW Waratahs matches at the stadium.

Football Australia marketing boss Peter Filipoulos tweeted: “Bizarre! How can a club from a rival code expect their brand be illuminated in-stadium at a shared government funded stadium at a co-tenant’s matches (from another code mind you) is beyond mind boggling.
“Reads like self entitlement & an inflated sense of importance over others.”

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, Roosters chairman Nick Politis described the move as “very, very petty”.
“They obviously don’t understand our history,” he said.
“We’ve been on this site with three stadiums for 86 years. How long have they been around?

“What they did with the tarpaulin looked so hideous on a beautiful new $900 million stadium.
“They just have a ground hire agreement.
“We paid for our own facilities and we pay rent for the space we use.
“It’s in our contract that the signage is part of that agreement.”
Politis also told the News Corp publication that the club had paid $12.5 million to build their own centre of excellence and football offices at the government-funded venue.
During a charity backyard cricket event in Kirribilli on Thursday, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet were filmed arguing about the signage.
Albanese is a lifelong supporter of the South Sydney Rabbitohs supporter, who were recently barred from using Allianz Stadium as a permanent home ground, opting instead to stay at Accor Stadium in Sydney Olympic Park.
“It‘s got a Roosters sign, how have they done that?” Albanese said in the clip.
“No, tear it down!”

That and “How long have they been around?”.

As if that has anything to do with this.

Foundation club with 114yr history, 86 of those on that site. They pay more & make it sustainable for the other blow ins. I absolutely think they have some entitlement.

There's a reason Woolies/Coles/Aldi have big signage at shopping centres & the little cafes don't. The centre & cafe aren't there without the big boys.

When they own their own stadium, I am with you all the way.

The fact is no matter what the history is they do not own that stadium. Therefore what they say, I think, is just arrogance.

Woolies/Coles have big signage because they back it up financially and are the drawing cards for that shopping centre.

Not saying they shouldn't have signage. Just saying they're wankers.

It's a taxpayer funded stadium. I don't mind them having their sign there but I do mind them acting like it's their ground and no-one else's.

Roosters are the Woolies/Coles of the stadium - the draw card that's a "permanent resident". Roosters don't own the stadium but If they don't buy in the joint doesn't exist, RU & soccer aren't keeping the lights on. I don't think they've ever laid claim to owning it, just reminding everyone who was there first & most importantly who tips in the most $$$.

If soccer want a sign up they should've negotiated that into their contact like Chooks did. I suspect a substantial bump in their rent would've followed.

It called power & they got it & they use it.

Doubt they got any issue with others using it when they aren't but they paid for a sign that they don't appreciate having a tarp tossed over.

Your beef should be with whoever agreed to letting them have their sign & not working it out with other tenants.

Do you think the stadium gets built in its current form if the Roosters decided they didn't want to play there anymore?

I do not know the history that well but from what I undersatnd both of you are saying that Roosters have such a big following, their games are sold-out all the time, if they did not want to play their games at this stadium then it would not make sense to build the stadium.

You have no argument from me there. I totally agree with that. My issue was with the Rooster's attitude. They could have just said "we're following our contract." and be done with it. There was no need to act like they are best thing since sliced bread and belittle everyone else.

It called power & they got it & they use it.
I am genuinely curious: Where does that power come from?

Surprised they didn't tell the government they didn't wanna be a part of it and play their games at Redfern instead

Members & attendance don't matter. That's all Roosters money anyway. If I rented a building from you why would you care how many customers I get provided I pay rent? It's Roosters HQ, the place is a lot more than the field & seats.

They're the anchor tenant that agrees to set up shop for the long term & without that big money long term buy in no one is dropping $900m to build a flashy precinct.

They're in business selling a product in a competitive market.

Seriously look at that list. Nearly all founders or directors or CEOs of billion dollar companies. It doesn't matter if just them & their mates attend Roosters games it'll be 70% of the countries money in 1 corporate box!

Where's the power?
Yeah but have their kids made it to primary school? Proof required.

Well that's the acid test innit? Obviously "no" if they're not listing it on their CV.

That lady's kids must be in high school now so she's moved on to bigger & better things. Bless.
