The risk to other players probably isn’t that bad, but professional sports people do come in contact with a lot of other vulnerable people through their work.

Oh well. **** the sick
Life needs to get back to normal at some point though.

I dare say institutions such as aged care, hospitals etc will still require visitors to be vaccinated so there is some protection there.

That’s right. People do immoral **** all the time. If they have no care for others in society you can’t really help that.

I’m glad they’re having fun with their make believe weekly fascism march. They are really very dumb. Of all the problems in the world, this one doesn’t even rate. These people are so stupid that they can’t even understand who is ****ing them over. Zero understanding of history, zero understanding of medicine, zero understanding of the social contract.

True, I think people in Melbourne are just over lock downs more than anything though, it's the most locked down city in the world during the pandemic.

Some people have legitimate concerns , you need to respect that. I know of someone who's daughter is a vegetable as a result of a vaccination gone wrong. You can't blame people like that for not taking the jab.

This is correct, i know quite a few people marching, the girl on stage Singing, etc. Don't agree with it, but its more against the Victorian "Victorian" Draconian approach

Stupidly though these public protests are more likely to lead to more lockdown than less

Can't remember the exact specifics mate, happened a little while ago.

It's extremely uncommon but it does happen, some people just don't react well.

I get every vaccination but if that happened to one of my kids it would change that.

Wish where I lived had lockdowns. 48% vacc rate and winter coming, everyone acting like it's finished already. Gonna blow up again.

Wouldn't you have a large number of people with natural immunity as well as the vaccination protection of people?

Doing something because everybody else does is the definition of being a sheep.
Doing something because everyone else does it is certainly not a good reason. This says nothing about whether or not you should actually do it though.

E.g. if there is a Shark in the water, do I get out because everyone else does? Of course not. The Shark itself is reason enough ;)

There are certainly people for whom the opposite of this is true - not just in vax discussions but in many aspects. i.e. they hold the position “I’m not going to do this thing because everyone else did (or is telling me to)”. This is equally bad reasoning and also says nothing about whether the actual act is worthwhile or not.

I can think of several people I know who behave like this often - regardless of their thoughts on vaccines. It’s just flawed reasoning - but like they say: you can’t reason someone out of something that they didn’t reason in to.

They say low risk for 6 months after infection. Sounds like people who got it around this time last year during a spike are at risk again.

Even if you don't get a new mutation as bad because you got one previously, you can still spread that ****.

I'm not giving him **** for not having the vaccination. But in his case he had a lot to lose.

I bet you could find thousands of anti vaxxers would happily change their tune if you offered them his salary

Had a family member who didn't want to get it I am pretty sure just because she doesn't like being told what to do.
Other than 'because I just don't want to' the best argument was her friend didn't want to get it 'because of RNA'.
I asked if she knows anything about RNA and she said 'no but my friend is a nurse' and a I said I don't think nurses really have expertise at a DNA/RNA level. She ended up getting it anyway to keep her job, nurse friend now unemployed.
Worth noting her friend also backflipped from vegan to strictly animal products too, so she def doesn't mind a wild take.

In regards to what HB said I have other rellies who had a close person friend get flu vax and become 'locked in' for like a couple years and actually made a full recovery. Pretty horrific though.
But tbh unless it has really directly impacted you worrying about the risk of something like that you probably shouldn't be driving either, as that is wayyy more likely to **** you up.

The vaccine was created based off the Wuhan strain. The further time goes on the less effective it will be as the virus mutates and changes. Infection of the COVID virus is a broad infection with multiple spike proteins. Not one like the mRNA vaccine. The broad nature of natural immunity means that as the virus mutates and changes you will likely hold greater immunity to new strains than the vaccine.

Yes you can get the virus again after infection and antibody counts are higher soon after vaccination, but that actually doesn't mean you have a higher risk of severe illness with reinfection.
