There is no way in the world that Gus didn’t tap Trent on the shoulder or very very strongly suggest that he needs to think about his role or future at the club!

Gus took a training session and Trent “decided” to just leave half way through.

BS!
I don't think he would have tbh, he loves Barrett.

Gunna be a very hard decision for Flanno.
Gunna want to take a HC role but can’t see him wanting to work under Gus.

I imagine voluntarily stepping down gets him a full payout without any hassles
Or he could leave it two weeks and get fired and they will try hang on to every dollar they can avoid paying him

Yep. I don’t disagree that he “quit” but not out of loyalty or to do the right thing for the dogs. He quit cos he was told to pissoff!

well, he had 5 wins in his 18 months, not surprisingly, we chipped in & gave him one of those wins, Ricky’s had sweet FA wins this season, we’ve given him two, we really are the good guys of the NRL

Surely they don’t pull the trigger on him unless they have their man(whoever it is) ready to roll out.

I feel like Flano is the only one who could turn things around. In the end, they don't really have the juniors, outside players don't want to live or train in the area, and most don't have any real connection to the locals, nothing really to play for except their teammates. A bit similar to the St George side of the Dragons.

I'm actually more frustrated about the clothesline on Moylan (I think it was) than the whitehead one. I think it was bort in the game day thread who rightly pointed out it wasn't much different to Kennedy on Walsh.
Out of the heat of the game whitehead was incredibly unucky in that tackle to even make contact. He was behind two other players and Finucane bumped off Papalii first. I think the sin bin was consistent with how they have been ruling and it wouldn't be right for him to cop a further penalty.

So this makes two villains who get away with high shots on Dale.

Big Nelson from the Storm and Elliott Whitehead from the Raiders.

Not sure what the club is thinking about this but if you were in Fitz or Dino's shoes, wouldn't you be giving Andrew Abdo a call?

And say what? The other clubs are conspiring to hit one of the nicest guys in the game high?

Haha! No mate. Couldn't hurt though to just highlight a few discrepancies from the MRC.

Todd Payten and Justin Holbrook spoke up a few weeks ago (albeit publicly) about their concerns and at least the Cowboys seem to have benefitted a little from that.

I'm not saying it's an outright conspiracy but just a quiet word to Abdo that we've lost our leader for a fair number of weeks to two high hits that have gone unpunished. Nothing can be done about it now but for the future it might have the MRC thinking about it a bit more, especially if Nelson and Whitehead re-offend. :)

Haha yeah, I just think it's a bit different. The NRL proceeded to clamp down a bit on the raised forearm. At least I remember lodge getting done the next week. I think the other coach complaints were more to do with refereeing decisions rather than the MRC.

Yes mate, but it's still the NRL as a whole - they are a very reactive lot rather than proactive. They sit back and wait for things to happen before acting on it. Had Payten and Holbrook said nothing, things wouldn't have changed. As it is, everyone forgets about it after a few weeks anyway I guess.
