Tracey I would, he's been excellent for us. But Magoulias and Hiroti are depth. They're only in the top 17 because of the injuries we have.

Just depends on your definition of top line player. I’d say that is someone who is an automatic selection in the 17 when everyone is healthy. I can’t say that for Hunt, though obviously if he was healthy now he’d be playing because of injuries. If you want to use a different definition, that’s cool.

All good. I’d just say that we were missing a top 5 player (Johnson) and two top 20 players (Talakai and Hunt) to start the year.

I know it can be a bit of a grey area. I do think if everyone was available, Hunt would be in my top 17.

Depends if you drop other blokes too I guess. In a fully fit side Talakai, Tracey, Trindall, Moylan are all bench options, but you could potentially see a team with all four of those guys in the 13, which opens up bench spots.

E.g. drop Nikora and have Toby and Talakai each play some back row.

Calling Hunt a top 20 player is probably fair, top line probably depends on definition.
Based on his last years form Hunt probably beats out Wilton, Mags and Fifita. But then maybe loses the last bench spot to utility (Tracey). Would leave bench of Williams, Talakai, Tolman (or BHU) and Tracey.
Hunt was better than Williams last year but this year Williams has been much improved.

It's incredible isn't it. All of those players with the possible exception of Ferris, would be in our starting 17. So we have half an entire side out.
I know other teams are doing it tough but surely with our cap issues, we are doing it tougher.
First thing you have ever said that I actually agree with.

I remember making a half team going into the Storm game because of how many we had injured and suspended.

I used Dugan just for the scenario but he was actually dropped so doesn’t really count and put Townsend at 6 just for the match up. I think our Injured/suspended team wins

1. Dugan 1. Kennedy
2. Katoa 2. Tracey
3. Ramien 3. Chambers
4. Ferris 4. Wilton
5. Ronaldo 5. Hiroti
6. Moylan 6. Townsend

8. Hunt 8. Tolman

10. Fifita 10. Woods
11. Talakai 11. Nikora

Fresh troops incoming. From this weekend development players are eligible for NRL.

While we still don’t know his contract status for sure, if he isn’t named this afternoon I’m going to go ahead and tack Ryan Rivett onto the injury list (unknown injury, no info from the club)

It just doesn’t fit the narrative for the scribes to even mention our injuries .

Not once last week did I hear our situation mentioned against the injury ravaged bunnies..

It will be the same this week against the dragons ..

Hunt was a weapon last year - he has to be in the 17 even if it means pushing out Tracey, BHU, Fifita, Tolman ect. he's too good to be a reserve . I wouldn't think twice about having Hunt in my 17 , he was impressive . bit surprised some think of him as a borderline player, his impact was up there with Talakai

we have had so many blokes out injured for so long on and off over many a season what we trot out now is probs considered our full strength team haha and a commentator cbf reading out a 3 page memo list of our outs - some fans won't even remember or know those blokes anymore lol

Andrew Fifita - hamstring/shoulder - possible for round 12
Teig Wilton - suspended - Round 14
Mawene Hiroti - suspended - Round 14

Ryan Rivett is gone for the season (shoulder). He was given permission by Craig Fitzgibbon to return home to the Gold Coast while he recovers.

He's expected to be good to go for the start of the 2022 pre-season.

Nobody charged by the MRC vs the Titans, and no reported injuries out of the game. Hannay said Nikora had a "little niggle" but should be OK.

Sucks for the kid. Would have been some important development him playing Flegg and maybe for the Jets this year.

Katoa, Fifita and Hamlin all back in action this weekend.

Things have changed quickly. 30 of 33 players were available for selection this week. Lower grades are all fairly healthy too, other than Newtown struggling for halves. Rivett, Williams and Tamou all out, and Hannay/Fitz don't seem too keen on Townsend or Trindall playing for the Jets.

Braden Hamlin-Uele (ankle) – round 15/16
Royce Hunt (knee) – tbc
Jackson Ferris (ankle) – season

Lower grades:

Ryan Rivett (shoulder) - season
Tyla Tamou (knee) - season

I was wondering if Chad was going to run out for the Jets or not.
He isn’t 18th man either and dropped out of the squad in the first cut.

Sucks for Pele, won't see him get another first grade game this year. With Covid last year and now this his development has been really stalled.

Good news Uele is nearly back

Hunt I imagine will play a few games for the Jets.
