Both teams play Townsville this weekend, who were the winners of the 16's and 18's competitions in Queensland. Also four mattys cup boys made the 26 man NSW under 16's squad which will eventually be cut down to 17 to play Queensland in a couple of weeks. They are D Smith (fullback), Metcalf (half), J Salmon (Second row) and L.Smith (lock). But yes the mattys cup boys will go back to local park football and probably still have some training sessions with the sharks. The sb.ball boys will be pushing for a run in the 20s and I'd say if they are not playing 20s they will play in the local A grade comp.

Cheers mate. :good:

Sg.ball talents:

Kennedy: Fullback, is quick and good passer
Scott: Big strong centre, good defender. Should be straight in the 20s
Flanagan: Half, Great kicking game, and great at putting backrowers through a hole. Eligible for sg.ball next year
Williams: Reg Gasnier's Grandson. Half, quick, good defender and can kick goals. Should be straight in the 20s
Brailey: Hooker, great defender, good service and quick out of dummy half. Eligible for sg.ball next year.
Savage: Hard running edge backrower who can hit a hole
Magoulis: Lock. probably the stand out. Strong runner who is also skillful. Should be straight in the 20s
The front rowers Vasquez and Ilett have had injuries but have potential and will definitely be in the 20s next year, might even get a run this year.

Mattys Cup have had a more consistent season but obviously its still early days for them. Kioa (centre) and Kula (front row) are the stand outs. Halves have improved massively and the backrow is very strong and athletic

Hopefully good times ahead

Looks like you were pretty spot on with a few of them ! think there's 6 in the squad now. That Illofe (sp) looks pretty good too.

Nathan Ryan reckons we're trying to extend Tracey again (who is contracted til 2016) in the face of interest from others (which is usually a beat up). Nathan Brown is quoted as saying Tracey has talent.

There's word around that Curtis Scott is being chased by everyone and we might not retain him.

Interesting to see who makes it from these couple of crops. From the little I've seen J. Brailey, Magoulis, Tracey, Scott and perhaps Nisbet look the most likely.

Haven't seen enough from the young halves or props to be able to tell.

Its nearly make or break time for Moraitis, Addo-Carr, Deitz and Isaako though all might have done enough to get a second tier contract somewhere if not with us.

I feel like we're going to have a hard time keeping everyone, lets hope the club is serious about bring through players and not just talking the talk. I hope we started negotiations with these players months ago !

I think that times past for those players to be honest - Carr, Deitz, Moraitis. If you can't carve up an NYC game then you're not going to make NRL. Yeah Carr is fast and uses his speed but that's all he's got. Jury is still out on Isaako for mine.

Moraitis re-signed with the club last week. Would like to see addo carr given a chance on the wing for nsw cup next year. Deitz has no future here.

Isaako seems out of favour with the club atm for some reason. He can still play 20s next year though. J. Brailey has really stepped up the last couple of months and IMO his brother Blayke who played Sg.ball (still eligible next year) is even better.

The 18 year olds Scott, Magoulis and Savage are progessing well in the 20s. Hopefully Scott stays with us, I am worried about the Bulldogs getting him though. I don't think Vasquez has played a 20s game yet but is a big talent. He made all the 18s rep teams this year, is a strong middle forward who is very mobile and can play big minutes.

Yeh it looks like the club is trying to be proactive in keeping the young talents which is good.

I heard a guy with the Bulldogs is involved with the Cronulla Caringbah club. Lichaa and Lane played for Cronulla Caringbah. So did Scott. The Dogs also signed a good young frontrower from us a year or two ago. Could be all unrelated though and I am confident we can keep Scott

Kennedy named at fullback this week. So far there's been quite a few players make the transition to NYC now. Wonder when Billy comes back.

Anyone know the contract situations for alot of these players ? Obviously Scott has left. One of the commentators mentioned Billy had signed for four years but who knows.

Looks like the both grades are off to a flying start this year. Probably face a stiffer contest in the coming weeks but hopefully those national comps has instilled a winning culture into the teams.

Yep the juniors have lifted their game in the last couple of years. Better coaching and recruiting quality players from NZ and QLD. I don't think either team will win the comp this year but both should comfortably make the 8.

Good to know, and whilst winning the comps was pretty sweet last year, I'd take having a few gun players and bringing them up through the ranks any day.

And keeping them!
