GC unveiled a new logo today, and one takeaway from it is that Dynasty has said that 2022 NRL jerseys, both home and away, will feature silicon badges.

So that includes us.

Some people love them, others don't. I don't. Just something I don't believe holds up well after lots of wear and washing.

Not why you posted it but, looks too dark to me, more like a space robot than from greek mythology

Share your concerns a bit about anything that can catch, come away from jersey is going to do that eventually.
Some (maybe all) of the current dynasty ones have silicone dynasty logos on shoulder already though and seem fairly high quality to last a while

They last to a certain point.

Gone are the days of wearing jerseys 20+ years

I’m interested to who on here has a original jersey going back the longest. I know mine is a 94 Reebok one that I brought when I flew up for the 94 grand final won by Canberra, but we won the two other games that day bloody great day.. second best grand final I’ve ever been too (only been to two)

I have an Aussieduct one from the 80's, doesn't fit me now though.

Bought a replica one a few years ago.

Btw, re: silicon badges, this from someone attached to Dynasty;

A couple of notes from me in regards to the last few points raised.

- We've extensively wash tested the silicone badges and had no issues. The NRL were very strong on that from the start and we're all happy with all the results. (NRL absolutely love the badges as well).

- In my opinion, when you compare them side by side the silicone badges are so much better and it's not even close. In particular, teams like Manly who's logo can be quite a pain to embroider well (especially in ladies and junior sizes).

- These will be for home and away jerseys only at this stage (no special jerseys). We've also had teams that loved them so much that they'll be appearing on other items throughout the range too.

I'd certainly recommend checking them out in-store before hating on them too much. In my opinion, I can't see why the replica jerseys can't have sublimated logos like the players jerseys but if they NRL are going to insist on a special application then I think these badges are a huge improvement on embroidery.

Strategy is for them to deteriorate so that supporters update their jerseys more often.
Modern ”Marketing strategy“.

No doubt that plays into it, same as buying a washing machine that lasts the same amount of time as its warranty.

But it's also seen as a 'premium aesthetic' so they can justify a $180 price tag.

Also, places like dhgate which has gotten so good it's hard to tell they're fake, will continue to use sublimation, so with a silicon badge, you'll know your getting a genuine product.

This person lost all my trust with this line. Sublimated logos are the worst.

ACE Gutters back on the Shark train, in sleeve form!

This may be a glimpse at our 2022 jersey. Slightly narrower hoops on chest, and white stripe on sleeve.

Points Bet still on front, despite sponsoring Manly. They may drop off before season starts.

You can see the green of Zambero on the back.

Southern Comfort should be back too

Seeing a lot of these two together. Not saying they're lovers... Not saying they're not...

Yep that's the jersey full for next season. Points bet are keeping Sternum but not shorts. New Shorts sponsors coming shortly. Apparently we will be fully sponsored again in 2022, with upgrades in $ I suspect.

I have a question: Why do the NRL jerseys always look the same year after year? What I mean by that is, in football (soccer that is), the clubs try to come up with different designs for all 3 of their jerseys (home, away, alternate) every year to lure the supporters to buy new jerseys.

However, I see a trend here that any NRL Club's jerseys look almost the same every year, save for the sponsor name (if they change). Is it becasue the market is so much smaller than football or is it more of a tradition thing?

One exception is the indigenous jerseys. They always come up with a different design and they look awesome. So what is the incentive for a supporter to buy a new jersey this year if they already have last year's jersey?

Also, the names on the jerseys... Whay doesn't NRL allow names on the jerseys and always keep the same numbers? It is a huge marketing thing for rest of the world and almost every sport has it. Why does NRL oppose this so much? Again, is it a tradition thing or something else?
