mead would be an instant hit in our backline

id even move ryan to the centres if we got him. would be a great piece of business

Imagine a dream world where we had this backline and they were all in red hot form:
1 Gardner
2 Ryan
3 Pomeroy
4 M. Gordon
5 Mead

All those blokes in form would be a monster of a backline.

Highly unlikely Cooper will play NRL in 2013 let alone ever, I dont think the leaguies rate him for the defensive part of the game plus I reckon Quade would be thinking "league would be a hard gig".

lol what are you on about? defense is defense and can be taught there is and has been some terrible defenders and we have had our share .

Cooper has a high skill level but is hot and cold pre world cup a lot of clubs would have loved to have him it's quite a shame really because if he was in some solid form or didn't have that terrible world cup a lot of clubs would want his signature and i think it would be great to watch him playing with the best.

oh, ok, that must explain why clubs are falling over themselves to sign the guy.

I don't see how that is an embarrassment for the NRL at all.

Some of these journos need to understand that there is a world out there that is bigger than Rugby League and Australia.

He tried to come over at late notice at a time when no club could accommodate him under the competition rules. He found opportunity elsewhere. Bad luck, move on. Better than shifting the rules for one person and making a mockery of the integrity of the whole competition.

Hopefully for the games sake he will be back in the NRL in 2014. For now it's pretty funny to see parra miss out if that is the case.

Let's join the chase for his signature for 2014 if for nothing other than to drive his price up.

Great post, I agree entirely Slide.

With respect to the bold... that's due to their target market.

Tonga is not going anywhere, ..
Izzy has agreed to terms long ago, we are playing games with the media to put pressure on the NRL to budge on how much we can back end because we have another player other than izzy waiting to sign, we are trying our best to fit them both in.
There is no way the NRL will let us use some of 2014s cap next year, we know that, its a game of ducks n drakes atm.
Dont forget there are club elections for us in december, all is not what it seems, 3P and Spagnolo are desperate for a sweetner or two just in time for the Election.
They are running scared of rival ticket led by Sharp and Sim, should this rival ticket Parrafirst get up its a new bright dawn for the eels.
If the stooges 3P hold the power its very unfortunate for supporters or the Pirtek Parramatta Eels...

How'd that go for you? Crawl on back to one eyed eels.

As a qld-er i'm shattered he's not coming back to NRL. I still dont know why he couldn't just take $100k for a year, he's made enough in the AFL to just work for bugger all for a year

He cant just "Take" 100k for a year. The NRL wont allow that to happen as it is unfair to the rest of the NRL. Izzy has to be on market Value money no matter what club signs him, and his market value is 400k
