Oporto Signs On As Official Membership Partner

Oporto Signs On As Official Membership Partner
6/09/2011 5:06:19 PM

The Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks are proud to announce Oporto as the Official Partner of the 2012 Sharks Membership Program.

Joining the Sharks family as the major sponsor of the Oporto Mermaids this season, the popular restaurant will return to the Club next year in an extended capacity. The Oporto partnership marks a positive and important step for the future of the Sharks Membership Program, which will undergo a series of changes in 2012.

"We feel that it is important to enhance the Membership experience for our Members by providing better value for money as well as second to none customer service. Teaming up with Oporto provides us with a fantastic springboard to achieve both of those goals" explained Jardian Ormsby, Membership Manager of the Cronulla Sharks.

The Sharks head into the next Membership drive with new goals and a new Membership team from years passed.

"I believe people would view Membership differently if they were properly informed of its significance. Educating the average fan to understand the importance of Membership will certainly be one of our goals heading into the new season.

"With the exception of Jessica Ciccia, who knows the Membership game as well as anybody in the NRL, we have a new Membership team and a have set up a new Membership structure to carry forward our goals."

Although many of the details surrounding next years Membership Program are being kept under wraps, the Club did release a few details and dates to remember for Membership.

"The Members Jersey will be back next season. We're the only Club in Australian sport that does this and we look forward to carrying it into the future every year. It's one way we can show our Members appreciation for their sacrifices to the Club and we'll definitely keep it going.

"We're keeping the jersey design a secret for now, but it will be unveiled at a Membership Launch Party in late September that will kick start our 2012 Membership drive and be free for all to attend.

"We've carefully selected what to include in each package, with the 'value for money' factor weighing heavily into our planning."

The Sharks will also be incorporating Club Icons, Legends and Immortals into their 2012 Membership Campaign.

"We've had a few tough years on field and we felt it important to remind our Members and Fans of the good times that we had here; and that they're not too far away from returning. We contacted Gavin Miller, Cliff Watson, Greg Pierce, David Peachey, Les Davidson, Mitch Healey and a handful more - including members of the original team of 1967 – who were each more than happy to lend their time to help our drive. Like so many of our Members today, these gentleman have continued to bleed black, white and blue over the years."

Membership will officially go on sale on September 27th at 9:00AM

Congratulations to the Club! That looks superb- professional, clear and exciting!

For mine, too often in the past Membership has either been forgotten or treated as a kind of charity donation to save our Club. It shouldn't be that at all. First and foremost, it should be an intelligent investment that provides value for money entertainment. People ought to really want to be a Member.

Secondly, Membership should be a symbolic decision to support the Club that represents the OUR community (wherever they may live, and regardless of whether they have been residents of the Shire in the past), and further to that it should almost be a way of taking responsibility for the result. It starts with the Members.

I can't wait to see more!

Looking good. Hopefully with Oporto's on board this will mean discounts etc. Great way to provide more value.

Also, I think everyone in here (i.e. the diehards) should be looking to upgrade their membership this year (if funds allow of course). This may mean upgrading to the ET stand, getting a group of mates together and getting a corporate box in the PB stand (I'm sure there is enough regulars in here who could all join together) or even just adding football club voting rights if you haven't already got them.

We are obviously the people who care the most about the club so we should be doing as much as we can financially. I feel that 2012 could be the year to turn around the Sharks (with hopefully development approval coming in or before March) and we should all contribute to this momentum by giving a bit more ourselves.

I've been overseas for all of 2011 (after living in the Shire my whole life) and
its definately hard being away from something that you love and are passionate about (especially when times are not that good). I picked up a flexi 5 this year though despite knowing that I wouldn't make a single game and offloaded it to a family member. Made me feel like I was giving something. Hopefully I can go corporate or at least ET with a few mates in 2012 when I am back.

The other thing I have been thinking about a fair bit while being away is convinving other people close to you, family or friends, who support the sharks but don't do so financially to join as a member in some capacity such as a flexi 5 or even if its just the leagues club for the year. I certainly know more than a handful of people who should be throwing a bit of financial support behind the club who arn'et and will definately be encouraging them (persistantly) when I return.

We all want this club to be successful and financially healthy, so lets all make sure we are doing that bit extra.

It has to start with us.
