Daniel will be fine.
He has been around the group for a while now. Hoping he provides a spark when needed.

All the best Daniel!

Hopefully he kills it, then Trindel has to not only earn the respect of his fellow players /coaches - but also his way back into the team

Trindell didnt take it with both hands
Wish he didn't take the wheel with both hands....

All the best to Atkinson - "Cougar lost it, turned on his wings, you guys are number one!"

It's his now.

I’ll be the downer. I thought he tried hard and was solid, had a couple of nice kicks to pin them.

Ultimately though I think he’s limited to what he can produce at 6. We looked disjointed on his side of the field, while understandable with the limited preparation, he often took the wrong option.

When we have all the ball and facing a team without any substantial half, it’s okay, I don’t know how serviceable it will be when we meet the likes of Melbourne and Penrith who will restrict Nicho’s time and space.

second half
great kick short side. Chevy Stewart ends up catching on the line
we keep raiders locked down at their end
there's something
on the back of a 40 nil win, he will settle nicely into the systems

I wasn't expecting him to OWN the game

Didn't do anything wrong, which is fine for a back up half.

Does make me more disappointed in the Tricky scenario though as Dan's showing is a significant step down though.

Definitely a run first player, and hopefully as he eases into the job he'll get better at picking the moments to run rather just taking hit ups.

Agree with Wilson, we're going to need him to find a few more gears to contribute when the opposition gets tougher.

Well played Daniel

I didn't see the big step down from Trindall personally , especially considering the experience delta in FG

Atkinson had a good game and in time might offer more than Tricky. While he didn't have as much kicking responsibilities as Tricky (who only recently himself was given more) his pace is exciting and brings something else to his game making him look dangerous.

Was like having another fullback around the ruck at times.

His execution and decision making was pretty solid for first time starting

I get what you mean.
He seemed to be used more as an extra outside back and ran the battering ram runs out of our end a lot.
Didn’t get much opportunity with ball playing, but it’s his first game in the halves for us, so he will build into it 🤞

Don’t think it is too much of an issue our five eight ran a few times.
Ran less than Nicho, although as a higher percentage of his touches.

No issue with him being a run first player. Many of the runs were more like hit ups though, which I don't think is the best utilisation of his talents.

Yeah I do remember a couple
I’d need to look more closely to determine if I consider them just an unnecessary hit up - maybe Burgo can have a look on his rewatch.

If it was off a quick ptb for example not a bad call to keep attacking behind the ruck, or timing issues with unfamiliar teammates, or outside pressure decides to tuck and run. Plenty of reasons he could have run.

Maybe he just wanted to up his involvement in first full NRL game. We’ll see - happy to join in the criticism if there is an ongoing issue.

Fitz seemed pretty happy in the presser with him. Said he had a simple role and was impressive in it. Hard to argue against the coach's assessment.

I'd imagine he'll take on more as he finds his feet which should help.
