There aren't any available for next year as yet. I'm a fan of Kennedy, but I would be lying if I wouldn't love to sign Papenhauzen for 2026. With the storm extending Faalogo for 5 years, I get the feeling they might make the cap move to not retain paps. Especially as they've struggled for middle forwards over the last few years.
Paps injury issues weighed up with the salary he’d command? No thanks. I’m happy with Kennedy for the time being.

I think we all had this conversation not too long ago

Maybe we did. I thought he was on 8-900, and the aforementioned injuries may bring that down. I don't see them as a big concern though as they were freak accidents. It's a bit away, but I'm assuming he stays fit in that time. If he didn't I wouldn't be looking at him as much.

I personally think we are still another elite spine member away from really giving the comp a shake.

Yeah, but despite the forum voting Kennedy PotY and a top 2 player on the park in each game in rounds 1-3...the forum is dissatisfied.

What have you done for me lately Will?

Imo Trindall/Kennedy is even more clunky than Trindall/Hynes (but less clunky than Trindall/Wilton).

You always find a way to bring Trindall into things for some reason.

I'm bringing up the new combos.

People are whinging about Kennedy not doing enough in attack. That's because the combos are clunky. That's on Will but also on the the halves, and possibly Wilton. Trindall/Wilton are rarely on the same page and that is very relevant to Kennedy not ever getting a pass out the back from Trindall.

Nicho to Will out the back of shape still looks pretty good, and Nicho to Wilton looks fantastic.

Neither Wilton or Kennedy played a single game last year with Trindall as the left-side half. It's all new.

I know this isn't directed at me, but given CM responded to my suggestion I'll respond anyway.

I don't have an issue with Will. I think he's great and generally out performs what we pay him. My paps suggestion is more off the basis of I think we need the next level somewhere else in the spine.

I'd be just as happy with Grant for Brailey, Hunt for Tricky or any upgrade. Just so happens I think Paps could be an option availability wise.

The same way in which someone like Toby does a great job, but I wouldn't complain if we had signed AFB at his expense.

But you always say it might be a coaching thing which we're not aware of. Why is this any different?
They are setting the shapes up and not executing them well enough.

If they were never setting them up, that would suggest coaching.

In the case of Trindall attacking on the right side of the field, it could be coaching. Trindall plays flat shape much better than block shape, and seems to be able to get the timing right with Nikora. No Kennedy in that particular scenario could be a coaching decision.

TMM is average imo, I don't see it.
More he plays he'll get back to his best, was solid at fullback for Bronx each week. Playing 5-8 full time now, thought he was good last week, see him getting better each week

All good mate. Was moreso responding to the general dissatisfaction with Kennedy. Probably more a discussion for the Kennedy thread.

If Paps is available you have a serious crack at trying to get him to your club. Freak of a talent. Instantly improves any side he walks in by a mile.

If we have to let go Kennedy and say Katoa to get him I’m all for it. Stonestreet on the cheap for Katoa and use the rest to try get Paps.

I‘m seeing some sort of pattern here @BurgoShark but can’t quite put my finger on it.

When talking about a play that goes Hynes --> Trindall --> Wilton/Kennedy it seemed relevant to mention that this its comprised of different combinations. E.g. No matter how good the halves combo is, you aren't seeing a slingshot if the second receiver and the back rower haven't got their timing right.

Melbourne Storm must be reading our forum. They have begun contract extension talks with Paps. Want him locked up before November 1st so nobody can to him.
