Great work there Berrell, and excellent support by Ison to equalise. Really liking Ison

Bradbury looks so slow in defence, can’t see him making it (though it is a hot day, hotter than most NRL games).

How’d Iro go?

Any forwards stand up? Might need them!
That left edge ran a few switcheroos in the second half.

Was officially…

Vea’ila - Iro - Puru - Rodwell

… but at various times Rodwell was wing and Iro second row, Vea’ila centre.

Sharks SG Ball had a 30-all draw last weekend. Sits them in 8th. I believe it is a top five.

Going in to the final round they are not mathematically eliminated, but would need a small miracle.

Wests (7th) beat Parra (5th)
Norths (15th) beat Illawarra (6th)
Sharks beat the Roosters (undefeated 1st) while making up 6+ F/A points on Wests

There are some other scenarios where they make it based on those other games being drawn and/or the Sharks making up 76+ F/A points on the Bulldogs. Those are even less likely than above.

@BurgoShark how did Flegg go and in particular, Michael Gabriel.
Flegg got a touch up mate. 38-18 vs Tigers.

Gabreal and McCullough were HIA'd at the same time and neither returned (was in the last 15). Not sure if that means they clashed heads, or it happened at different times and the stat recorder just entered them together.

Sharks game was not included in the highlights video this week :(

Top performers from Newtown. Was a slow old game due to the heat, with very slow conversions/restarts/scrums, so none of the stats look real impressive.

In SG Ball a Parra try 2 minutes from full time gave them the win over Wests.

All but eliminates the Sharks.

If sharks win today and Steelers lose they’re in. Two very big ifs.

3pm today at Henson, Jets vs Raiders:

jets.jpg

We’re back!

The wait is finally over. Newtown returns to its spiritual home Henson Park for the first time in 2024 when we take on a red-hot Canberra Raiders who are currently on top of the table.

The Jets are two wins from three to start the season but will have to improve on last week’s performance against the Magpies, where a 79th minute field goal from Niwahi Puru was the difference between the two teams, if we are going to challenge the Green Machine.

Above said, our Men All Dressed In Blue will be keen to impress the Bluebag faithful, so be sure to get along to the Jewel in the Crown of Rugby League grounds this Saturday to cheer them on.

There will be plenty of fun to be had on the DEICORP Family Hill with FREE jumping castles, face painting & pass the ball to keep the kids entertained. Ice Cream Joe’s Mr Whippy & Barista will be in attendance, next to the Main Canteen whilst Philter’s Henson Park Draught, XPA and other tasty brews are available for all the Mums, Dads and over 18s.

Newtown Jets’ home game raffle returns featuring a delicious Meat Tray from Dulwich Hill Gourmet Meats along with our famous Fruit & Veg box courtesy of Bobby and Chris Petersen, a case of Henson Park Draught care of Philter and some yummy Jets cakes thanks to J Kreations. So as Lynchy always says… ‘Dig deep & support the Jets’.

After the game, the Jets invite members, supporters and friends to the Henson Park Hotel from 5.45pm to mingle with players and coaching staff and hopefully celebrate a victory. Henson Park Hotel is located at 91 Illawarra Road, Marrickville.

If you cannot get to Henson Park this Saturday, the game is being televised on NSWRL TV.

Please be advised that due the imminent redevelopment & upgrade of the King George V Memorial Grandstand, there is no parking inside the ground for the general public.
