Vulcan Veaila loving the Knight life
After being selected in the initial NSW U16 team this year - before having to pull out due to being ineligible - Veaila now has his eyes set on making it into the Australian Schoolboys side in 2020.

Chris Vea-Ila (centre): A powerfully built centre from New Zealand who came via St Pauls, this young bloke grew up playing the piano and dreaming of being Roger Tuivasa-Sheck. At 18, he’s now at the Knights and while not ready for NRL just yet, will be pushing for the top grade in the next couple of years.

Chris Vea'ila - A kiwi who came over as a 15 year old to play Mathews. He played fullback in Mathews and was one of our best in the 2019 team that took out the minor and major premierships. He was probably the tallest kid in the team and close to the heaviest as well. When they really needed a try, Jonah Pezet would find a way to get Chris one on one against a wing or centre and Chris would just barrel over them. He played his first game of reserve grade as a 17 year old and was matched up against some nuffie named Blake Ferguson. The Knights halfback put up what seemed a very foolish kick that came down perfectly between Vea'ila and Ferguson, setting up a fair aerial contest between the two. Vea'ila leaped over Ferguson, took the ball cleanly and came down with it 10 metres short of the line. Ferguson kept his feet and grabbed Vea'ila, but was easily shrugged off and Vea'ila scored the try.
In 2022 he was in and out all year. He played games of Ball, Flegg and reserves, but stress fractures in his leg meant he was out a lot and notat his best when he played.
2023 Recruitment & Retention Thread
Yea, he is saying if we don't sign Miller Gags will start at 1. Better than Mann imo but not ideal. To be fair Baz is barely in loop with club. He knows about as much as any of us. But I do repeat. It’s December. We have 3 months to sign a FB. They’ll sign someone.marathonstadium.com
Veilia I'm not surprised that he also left, I actually thought about 18 months ago he'd make his debut for the Knights but it never happened. Wouldn't be surprised Mapapalangi leaves with all of his mates gone.
...
Disappointed about Vea’ila. First yr he’s not been recovering from injury and has been strong.
2024 Recruitment and Retention Thread - Rebuild 2: This Time It’ll Work For Sure (Unironically)
Other than Dom Young are any of those blokes even worth keeping? No. Ve’ilia maybe. First yr he’s been injury free. Realistically most of us don’t get to watch Cup or Flegg on the regular, so can’t comment that whilst performances are poor who individually is putting in regularly. Jones has...marathonstadium.com
Sandy is a quick stepping, exciting fullback who helped the Redcliffe Dolphins win the 2023 Meninga Cup premiership.
It is no surprise a Sydney club is giving him a chance as he is one of those kids who has got something you want to take a punt on.
A talented Tully Tiger who made several appearances in the FNQRL A-grade competition, Ivey moved south at the end of 2023 to take his game to another level.
Ivey, who is now at esteemed sports nursery Endeavour Sports High, is a big-bodied mobile forward who has come off the bench for the Sharks in the Harold Matthews Cup.
So disappointing, he is still out, must've been a serious hit on his head, or maybe they are just obliged to be cautious, hopefully he is better soon.Pollard still out.
Sandy back in for Stewart. Otherwise any changed lineup for SG Ball.
They play @ Manly on Saturday.

Yeah - the way I would treat it is "miss the next two weekends, back for third if you hit all of your markers along the way". A headache or dizziness at any point sends you back to day 0. Parents and school coaches hate it.If you’re ruled out with a HIA it’s an 18 day rest period if you’re 18 years of age or under. Standard protocol now.
Really?Yeah - the way I would treat it is "miss the next two weekends, back for third if you hit all of your markers along the way". A headache or dizziness at any point sends you back to day 0. Parents and school coaches hate it.
Yep.Really?
Wow, I find that astonishing tbh. No way I'd be ****ing around with that.Yep.
Without making a mass generalisation I would say that of the parents I have personally dealt with when their child suffers a head injury I'd say 2/3 ignore the recovery steps and then whinge about the inconvenience of having to take them to a doctor to get a medical clearance.
It is also VERY common for a kid to get a head knock at either school or club footy and the parents keeping it a secret from the other one so they don't have to miss games (or vice-versa).
I've had kids turn up to training concussed from school games earlier that day. They were clearly not right. School coach did nothing. Parent did nothing. I shut them down.
It’s just old attitudes mate. Rugby League players are warriors blah blah blah. A lot of people don’t see the distinction between a professional athlete making a careful decision based on a team of doctors, and a kid who doesn’t understand that trying to pull a Sam Burgess in an u15’s C grade trial game might have a long term effect on his ability to do… literally anything.Wow, I find that astonishing tbh. No way I'd be ****ing around with that.
Haha welcome to the party.Jackson Ferris looks to be back at Jets
Good thing he never had Julian O'Neill as a teammate!!Lieu talking on the shoe phone in the background of that Ferris video is pretty funny.
