Just something else I saw from the game that I haven't mentioned as yet. We seemed to have a lot of slow play the balls - and it wasn't due to us being held down a lot. We just didn't seem to have any urgency there, especially second half.

One thing if the error was going for it on the 4th+ in deep attacking territory too. At least 4 of those were deep in our D within about 10 mins

They aren’t ‘demanding perfection’ from the rest of the team. Left also scored 4 of our 5 tries I think? And we conceded decent amount of points elsewhere too.

They aren’t defending well but they contributed as much to our chance of winning as our chance of losing.

If the other side was scoring all the points too I’d agree more with the demanding perfection. They are contributing well on one side of the ball, struggling on the other. They gave up 3 if the 5 errors that put themselves under pressure.

Agree something needs to be fixed there.
I didn’t mean literally demanding perfection. I mean they let in the vast majority of our points. All year. I’m guessing they were better last year with Wade but I don’t know. They’re killer in attack for sure but I’m not talking about that side of the ball. They’re are a turn style this year.

Was anyone else getting nauseous listening to Flanno's commentary on Kayo? FMD talk about death riding us the whole match while talking up the Warriors.
Totally! As soon as the warriors were on a comeback he was riding then home. No sour grapes there then.

Perhaps the reason Wade kept getting the jersey not Wilton despite all us experts saying it was ruining the season.

Last season we conceded 26% of our tries on the left, 32% in the middle and 42% on the right.

This season we are like 50% on the left.

What has changed?

I sense a shift in my Wilton agenda...

He let a few through
Ranked 18th for average errors in the NRL for players who played 12+ games, a few of those were definitely dropped kicks.
Two in one game when he has been solid for a good stint though stands out.

Him dropping kicks also heaps pressure on our line defence but doesn’t make them attack our left (but could contribute if they structure there attack to work back towards the side ball started on)

Tollman was very average in attack...... but could really read a game in defence and was plugging a lot of gaps.. He was not trendy but was very often in the right place at the right time.
It did also appear our forwards were often put on thier back when tackled

Good point.

The role played by Tolman was sometimes underappreciated on this forum.

I actually think trickys kicking game could have got us over the line, and he would have to be a better defender than moylan.

Nice work looking that up. That’s a serious difference. Fitz may be thinking it’s an adjustment we have to work on and ride out. Tricky one.

Counting back
2022 26% 18
2021 41% 11
2020 27% 19
2019 35% 10

The second number is games played by Wade Graham (which, admittedly, is lower than we’d want)

That Retro Jersey and the ol Boys combination, plus Warriors owed us a close one. Cronullafied. Personally from afar, apart from the gaps in the roster we know ( prop and specialist centre), is there perhaps a bit of overexposure going on in the playing group away from footy? Rudolph,Hynes,Mulitano, Nikora etc. Perhaps we need to shut down a bit of the individual promo stuff for a while, and focus on good tough footy? ( and bloody take the 2 when its on offer 6 mins from HT!!!!!!!)

You left out the Ronnie/Katoa first to 50 try milestone game

It really was the perfect storm
but then our ice maker broke down but instead of gritting our teeth and sailing through the chop we sat back on our chairs and let our catch go rotten

yes i know the fisherman all died in the movie by sailing through the storm but the point is they remained determined to succeed, had a crack, worked as a team under a captain and didn't give up or take the easy way out because everything they had risked and worked hard for was at stake

they didn't drop the footy or miss tackles either

I just want to go back to @CrazyMatt and his comments before on this thread about how we are Cronulla and we just have a history of losing unlosable games and ****ing things up when we have built up a lead. Or losing to a team that we should easily beat.

I've been a long time supporter and I know where he is coming from. But the puzzling thing is that we have a coach who comes from a club with a winning culture. We have a number 7 and our chief playmaker and best player that also comes from a club with a winning culture as does our on field captain in the 13 jumper.

So how do this **** continue with those three running the show?

If you want to take it further and look at our CEO and Chairman, those two fellows also seem to be winners.

What is it that makes us Cronulla and lose games that we shouldn't?

I'd love to hear people's opinions on this.
Maybe because Bellamy would be blasting players - both in the coaching box and press conference.

We appear to be too nice!
