It is actually embarrassing when Moylan kicks the ball - and as a whole - we are under par in the kicking game ..
Moylan is not the future and with him we get no closer to the trophy.

We lose nothing without him, give another half (Trindall eg) a run for the year if it works it works happy days if it doesn’t then we lose nothing and could go to market with no overheads at all instead of over investing in nothingness in the other halves spot

I agree re Moylan not being the future.

I still don’t get the 2 years for Moylan - I could live with 1 year - it’s not like his door was being bashed down ..

Yeah I'm not happy about that. For sure he would have wanted more than one year but we should have stood firm. If he leaves, he leaves.
And we have Trindall/Hynes pairing - no thanks.

I'd rather the extra year if it meant keeping Moylan and giving us time to recruit/replace him - whether it's that Penrith kid, Dykes, Rivett who knows. Gives us time to plan.

thing is, 2 years locks us in to moylan with no get out

we could have given him a 1 year deal, no one else wanted him

now, if rivett, dykes, the penrith kid all kill it we have more dead cap, we also have to look to move him on if we had a shot at someone like moses

Nobody else wanted Moylan in the middle of 2021 or whenever it was we tried to get him to move. Not sure that would have been the case more recently necessarily.
Is there something to support this theory or is it ‘nobody else would sign Chad Townsend’ again?

Do we know Moylan's 2nd year dollars? It's pretty feasible that he takes a Wade style role in our halves depth for 2024 (and next year wouldn't hurt).

If the bucks aren't too big and we've planned to give someone else a run then 2 years is fine. If Moylan's the only one getting a look-in it's a bad move.

his contract is apparently very user friendly both years, but still, there was no bidding war for him

Crighton has been offered 950k a season by the dogs to play fullback for 2024. He’s nowhere near that imo! Dogs are out of the race for Moses now, it’s down to parra and the tigers. Tigers offer is 200k a year more then the eels. Across 4 years adds up to 800k which is a lot to miss out on.

I know that we'd like him to kick more, and a handful of posters don't like the guy - but Moylan can't have done too much wrong in the eyes of the forum in 2022. At one point he won 4 MoMs in a row in the 3-2-1 didn't he?

The main issue we've had with Moylan from 2019-21 is that he gets injured too much, and that he plays like **** in his first game or two back from injury. Neither of those things happened in 2022. I for one would take 2022 Moylan over any version of Shaun Johnson who turned out in a Sharks jersey.

yeh no issue with moylan in 2022, he was one of our better players, but he is probably the one we need to upgrade
