Sometimes the players aren't sure themselves. I think that is what happened with Cotric and someone else I can't remember.
Once their name starts getting mentioned their distant families may reach out and say hey they are saying our name wrong or something.
Last names are weird. My last name is Adames and most people would read that as Adams but it's pronounced more like ad-damez. I only know that pronouncation due to my grandfather but if I had no contact with him I would probably just say Adams. Mine is a pretty simple last name to correct/confirm pronouncation, but with all these pacific islander name and how larger their families are I can imagine it would be hard to confirm the correct pronouncation. Even this way may be wrong.

I got the impression it's not that the version we know is wrong, but the new version is the family version and he would prefer to use it as a show of respect.
We'd need a TAFE course to get all of the players names right these days... us Aussies are rubbish with anything non anglo-saxon

Did not see Suaalii being so poor. Or Manu. Or Teddy not getting 150... Totally screwed me.
And my opponent switched from Teddy to Nicho at the last second. Which apparently doesn't update in the app... Was expecting it but couldn't see it. Would have won otherwise.
