Premiership-winning NRL coach Paul Green’s sudden death aged 49 at his Brisbane home has stunned his friends, family and the rugby league community.

Green’s family released a statement on Friday afternoon.
“Today we are devastated,” the statement began.

“We have lost a devoted husband, loving father and wonderful brother and son. We cannot find the words that would come close to expressing our feeling, however we would like to extend our thanks to those who have reached out to us with their love and support.
“Paul was loved by so many and we know that this news will generate immense interest, however at this time we ask for privacy.
“Our family is still trying to understand this tragedy and we request space and time as we come to terms with this loss. Thank you.”
It has been confirmed the NRL great took his own life.

A Queensland police spokeswoman said: “Police were called to a Wynnum residence just after 10am this morning after a 49-year-old was located unresponsive.

“He was declared deceased by emergency crews a short time later. There are no suspicious circumstances. A report will be prepared for the coroner.”

I know many of you already know of this news.

I'll just shortly follow it up by saying this.

There are times even us as supporters of the same team don't see eye-to-eye, or share the same opinion and bicker about it. End of the day, no matter what, with all that set aside, even if we never meet we are mates and must always be here for each other. No matter the interactions had with those of this forum, I am, and I feel you would all be the same, only ever a message away. Reach out, talk to someone, get anything off your chest, nothing is too small.

Am I the only one really looking forward to the world cup this year? A lot more nations look a lot stronger, should be much more quality in more games this time around.

Haven't even thought about it, probably because we're in with a show of making the big dance.

Will think about it after the season.

It should be great, but like HB I haven't given it too much thought yet.

Should probably see a few Sharkey's for other nations. Ronnie, Nikora and BHU for NZ. Sifa for Tonga, Sione woulda been there for Samoa, dunno Royce's heritage he might get a spot somewhere.

I know we traditionally don't turn up at Brooky. But I'm much less worried about the game now they have nothing to play for. Hopefully they don't get too much negative press this week to fire them up.

Mate they could be winless this year and I'd be worried about playing there. I think we've won something like 5 out out of 35 games there, our record is horrendous.

Maybe a good week for us to reveal our new rainbow jerseys!

I think this game at Brookie just what we need 3 weeks out. Manly will fight hard for sure, but i reckon we can pip them. Need to start well is Vital. When Titans came out and pushed the advantage on Manly after half time, they fumbled and bumbled. We can't come out flat after HT.

Agree. This has been our Achilles heel for quite a few games this year.
