Atleast you're doing it in one hit. That Tomahawk steak is going to taste good when you can chew.

I found last night very strange. I'm not usually one for conspiracy theories, but the policing of the ruck last night was weird. Yes, Melbourne was allowed to lie all over us, which would be fine if the same rules applied to us. Everytime we decided to lay a bit longer, we were penalised. I don't think I have seen such one sided refereeing. It was almost as if the ref decided "Gallen, you are complaining to me, so your team is not going to get a penalty from now on". We were actually not too bad in that game, to be only 10 points behind with that kind of refereeing. Melbourne's defence was allowed to reset every time, so line breaks were next to impossible. I wouldn't read too much into this loss. No team would have beat Melbourne last night with that refereeing.
Is it financially important to the NRL that storm make the finals? That would be the only way a conspiracy theory would hold water I would have thought.

LOL at the conspiracy theories. We're starting sound like Cowboys fans. Even without the bad reffing, we were not going to be anywhere near Melbourne last night.

Watching the game last night and the apathetic performance from the refs I got the feeling NRL want a Storm home final (i.e. 5th position). I know that's sounds ludicrous but if a ref is going to be inept and incompetent why was it only benefiting one side? Even fans from neutral teams have commented on how ridiculous it was

Before you sound like a defeatist, what changes do you think need to happen for us to be somewhere near Melbourne? (the footy team, not the ****ing city). I have my own thoughts but what are yours?

Yeah, the difference (taking away the slow arse ruck), was that Melbourne took every chance they had by the balls and put it into points. We still offer nothing in attack that can be threatening and cause defenders to get a bit nervous when we are within range.

I said it last night. Our club crap on about Robson like he is some integral cog in our well oiled machine, yet here we are, entrenched in the top 8, Robbo has played every game, he is off contract and not 1 other club has thought about giving him some sort of offer, so why the hell is our club so hung up on him??!!!. He is slow, has no creativity and cant kick for ****. Basically he has no place on the field. If his talking is so good, hang up the boots and run water like Alfie does or Toovey used to.

Spot on. Does anyone know why we have persevered with him for so long? Is it Flanno or Gal?

The funniest part was when we got penalised for holding down early in the second half.

That , and Cameron Smiths step over toe hold on Wade without penalty, classic stuff.

Well played Melbourne.

As Gus has said many times, they have a lot to answer for , bringing all this wrestling into our game.

Everyone has had to copy or get left behind, because of the NRL inaction.

just to add to the conspiracy, allegedly the Storm were at good odds the night before the game, then a ton of cash came in which brought them back to almost even. Apparently people were talking about it all morning before the game as it blew up on twitter or something.

I have zero proof of this, just heard some whispers around the traps about it.

It's not being a defeatist, it's facing reality. Dragging out conspiracy theories is purely clutching at straws. Melbourne are just better at the moment, they have the game plan to beat us and I don't think we have the versatility to adapt.

As for ways to improve: First thing comes to mind is Improve our kicking game, Melbourne's defence ate up everything we had in attack, they were just too good for what we had to offer, we simply don't have the skill to do this, with Chad/Maloney on board next year, maybe.

The last 9 weeks, whilst not perfect-have shown where our strengths are and the fact that yes, we can attack. It's not the best in the comp but all these people saying we offer nothing are getting a little ahead of themselves. Last night was poor, no doubt about it. Players tried too hard, ran the wrong lines and most importantly Melbourne killed us in defence, around the ruck and in field position. But I don't think that is reason to write us off all over again. Against the Tiges we should be in a much better position to show off the attacking skills we do have.

Do I think we have the skills to win the premiership? No. But I also do not think that last night's game writes us off. It was just a rubbish bloody game from every player out there apart from maybe Flash, Arona and Toops.

Next week will be a big test, but I think last night's loss actually INCREASES our chances of wiping the floor with the tiges. We needed to be brought back down to earth.

Remember when Brisbane held the storm out just about the whole game earlier in the season, plenty were writing the storm off after that but good teams come back, I'm confident we have a good team..

I don't see conspiracy theories as being bat-**** crazy.

We had a massive and clear salary cap Rort going on down there for years, with the Nrl and the storm owned by the same party at the time.

People have been done for betting scandals in rugby league and many other sports. And recently too.

These things happening aren't all that far-fetched. I'm not saying it did happen but it could.

Wherever there is money or pride involved...

They played better than us, no question. But still... Those rucks and 10 metres were a massive advantage.

yeah the nrl still chipping in to help the storm is a joke. I get the nrl helping them establish themselves in AFL territory but it's been far to long now.
You only have to look at the amount of support staff the storm have down there to realise it's a joke. Wonder how successful they would be with a budget like ours

Never really bought into conspiracy theories in the game but those are definitely worth thinking about.

As far as the sharks go i feel our players are pushing **** uphill most weeks with the referees. The andrew fifita "no try" against canberra down to general stuff like ruck penalties. Then there's the very obvious media hate of the club...

Maybe i do buy into the conspiracy theories haha
