I disagree it is minor, however, he is presumably going to cop between 2 and 8 weeks.

If the club is going to be lenient and give him two weeks, dragging it out for two weeks isn't a bad tactic. It is too late to argue about it when the decision is handed down.

I suppose it depends on what actually happened, Cranky. Either way, the police aren't involved so I can't see why it's dragging on.

And I said relatively minor. It my opinion that is the case compared to domestic violence.

According to the Australian newspaper, he was unsuccessful in getting the 12 month suspension downgraded, i don't have a link.

Wtf? Very very odd. Fifita doesn't face the board until tomorrow so how can this outcome be known? This is typical Crap with nrl.com posting rubbish information that is based off media **** from pricks like PK and Buzz. Absolutely ludicrous surely someone proof reads this before it goes live?? They should retract it and issue a formal apology for printing false and defaming information

I don't have Twitter unfortunately be good if someone did and see what their reply is... Seems a very odd thing to write and to base a key point in the article on- Unless the NRL have been advised by cronullas board before the boys have been in front of it which seems a very bad way to treat a player and to do business.

Maybe. Can we win a grand final without him? Scratch that, can we progress through finals without a 1%er prop?

Even if we can't, it's probably not worth throwing away our FOJ over.

Unless Andrew patched up he is no 1%er. The 1%ers are his biggest problem (on the field).

I didn't know that Tevita Latu married Antonio Winterstein.

Beat me to it.

Im not saying other clubs have done nothing shady. Im saying the nrl have never treated our club poorly imo in regards to punishing THE CLUB for on or off field issues

I agree with this.

I'm just confuses how Kenny dowell is allowed to play but the fifitas aren't
Since when is wife/girlfriend bashing acceptable then having few words at a ref, the nrl is seriously a joke now

SKD is a criminal matter for the courts. Fifita's is a footy matter.

Brett Stuart got 5 weeks for sexual assault allegations in 2009.....

Oh the double standards....

No he got 4 weeks for being a drunken dick at his team's season launch and bringing the game into disrepute after being named the 'face of the game'.

so did greg bird

He was sacked by us wasn't he and the NRL followed up with deregistration so no other NRL Club grabbed him on the cheap in the meantime.

Sharks admit Fifita drama a distraction
By Steve Zemek
August 5, 2015, 3:45 pm

Cronulla describe Andrew Fifita as one of their shining lights but say his loss for the rest of the NRL season would not extinguish their top four hopes.

Andrew and his brother David will on Thursday front the Cronulla board to learn their fate over allegations they abused a referee during a Penrith District Junior Rugby League match last month.

The pair have been suspended indefinitely and the Sharks are under pressure to rub them out for the rest of the season after they were banned from PDJRL games for 12 months.

Andrew has stated he will contest several key points of the allegations, including that he threatened to "smash" a referee following an A-grade match between St Patricks and St Marys.

The former NSW front-rower on Tuesday lost a bid to have his PDJRL suspension overturned.

Club captain Paul Gallen has said he would support a four-game ban and $50,000 fine for their conduct.

Andrew has run for an average of 157 metres per game in his 16 NRL appearances this year and Sharks utility Ben Barba described him as one of the form props of the competition.

The Sharks have emerged as one of the competition's dark horses after sneaking into fifth spot with four straight wins.

They face a stern test against second-placed North Queensland on Saturday.

An NRL suspension for the Fifitas would exacerbate the loss of veteran back-rower Luke Lewis who'll miss the next few weeks due to a knee problem.

Barba admitted the saga had been a distraction just five weeks out from the finals but it would not be a fatal blow to their post-season chances.

"Andrew, the way he's been playing, he's probably been one of the form front-rowers of the competition," Barba said.

"And probably one of the best, along with Gal, in our side.

"The quicker this gets sorted the better for us and Andrew and David."

Winger Valentine Holmes said Fifita's loss was a big one but there was enough talent in the side to plug the hole, pointing to their win over the Warriors without the pair on the weekend.

When asked if the episode had been a distraction, Holmes said: "It is but we're just trying to let them sort it out and focus on us on the weekends.

"It was a pretty big challenge (against the Warriors) because we need Andrew's go-forward.

"But the forwards that have been coming in having been training well and playing well on the weekends."

So, would there be any repercussions for the club if they give him a couple of weeks suspension and the NRL come in over the top and say it's not enough?

I really don't see any reason why we should apply a harsh penalty and rub him out for the year. If the NRL want to do it, let them do it.

Why do we have to sit here and second guess what they think of it?

I say get the boys to make a few comments about the incident. Get the media to talk as much **** as they possibly can that isn't about the game itself. Cowboys come in and think we are a wreck but we trolled the media the whole time and smash them 40-6. We find out that the ref was fifitas cousin the whole time and he just took a trip to Bali just for the sake of it and the media look like dicks and there is a photo of the ref and the twins laughing their ass off
