If we lose another forward I'd give toops 280g to play another year

I wouldnt give him that. But you know what i mean. For blokes like Ross to be near calling time. We need to be putting quality on the field. Toupo's never been the best for us, but if his role as bench prop has brought out a bit of steady work of him. Ill take it. He isnt trying to be a half back anymore. Maybe gal needs to watch what Toupo is doing. Less highlight ****, more taking a tackle, or picking the best times to throw the extra pass.

He isnt worth 280k as a bench prop, but he is worth keeping on a small contract if he keeps playing like this

apart from the fact that he didn't muscle up for us in the seasons that we needed him and the fact that he's chewed up too much of our salary cap (even in the years that we didn't have enough dosh to spend it),

I get the feeling that he's the type of player that excels in a team that's doing well,

now we've got a team full of rep players he could be the difference between us winning or losing a GF

there's a lot of haters on here but with Gordon flying through Toops can be the man to pop a pass

I only want him on a cheapish contract, agree he's been way overpaid on the sticky award

Absolutley, That would be a role he could fit and he takes the ball up with a bit more zest than Tag. Can defend, yep drop the money and would be agood signing

Id throw Tupou a 2 year 150k max contract take it or leave. I like him but hes been paid overs for a while and 150k is enough to show loyalty over 2 years to be kept in a good team capable of doing something in the nrl.

Btw bench prop is his position now so its only with this view that id keep him, the backrow is for juniours coming through. We have way to much money invested into our backrow

we need to clean house...

bukuyas gone, tupou needs to go, i think ross needs to go as well.

IMO we need to head into next season with a forward pack of

gal
de gois
fifita
graham
lewis
peachey

gibbs
heino
bench prop/taga (on the cheap)
liccha

thats the bare minimum, no upgrade. if you want to upgrade the bench, buy keith galloway.

but there is no excuse for peachey to atleast not be on the bench, especially if it means superdud is going to re-sign toops

I think we still need another prop. Taga hasn't impressed me a great deal with his hit ups or should I say lack of hit ups, he did how ever play better on Sunday if he can improve then I'm happy for him to take that spot if not we need to look for a prop on the cheap

We need a decent centre and a halfback

Besides last week I think Ross has been going down hill since towards the end of last year. Didnt have the best start to the year. Struggles to bend the line backwards

kind of why I want galloway.

start gal n fifita, then you dont lose much with gibbs n galloway on the rotation.

also, captain fantastic gets a rest.

as for a centre, i would be happy to go with jono and ricky, if we could jag cooper vuna.

this would give us good money to go for Williams or Hodkinson.

You tell us. You're a dogs fan.
I wouldn't know, I am a die hard sharks fan, but from what I have seen of his at the dogs he has done very little, and will no doubt get dropped to NSW cup once Keating is back from injury, thats the word on the street anyway. but who knows what Des will do.

i agree, He doesn't offer anything at the moment, it wouldn't be bad but deff wouldn't be good.

No more mediocre signings, unless for depth. Especially for key positions.

Hodkinson????
Whats he done at the dogs??????

mate Carney is making Robson a **** player look 'solid'. IMO he's a good player wasn't given the chance in the dogs run to the grand final and no doubt he would have carved up.
They haven't done anything this year so you can't really judge him on it.

I think his confidence was down as well being stuck behind a player like Keating much like Chad's confidence would be down being stuck behind a player like Robson. Hodkinson is also playing along side Reynolds who IMO is overrated he is a solid player and a competitor but is no Carney. Hodkinson next to Carney we would really see him shine.

to be honest all we really need is a half and a centre id be quite content with those two, maybe a prop as well and id be pretty damn pleased

Dude we need a hooker that offers something in attack. I'm ok with Ricky and Jono as our centres if it means we can use the money for a halfback and hooker (I know Degois is here to next year but is not doing enough). Obviously we need a prop to replace Ross so agree there.

As for Toops he shows he is still a player with ability and a useful skillset. My biggest criticism of him over his time at the Sharks is that he does not get involved anywhere near enough for his pay grade and rarely rips in except for lately with a contract on the line. I would like to see him take a run almost every set considering he is not out there for 80 mins. He still has that amazing ability to pop an offload (when careful not to force it and make an error) and can also throw a very nice short ball when it is otherwise not expected. Getting more involved will also lift his confidence.
