If most, or at least some, of our key group of players from 2011 - Gallen, Wade, Morris, Tupou, Bukuya, Gardner, Stapleton, Townsend, Leutele, Mills - come through the ASADA investigation unscathed, then this could end up being a blessing in disguise, presuming Flanagan is actually sacked; at the moment he's just been 'stood down'.
Flanagan has done a reasonable job as coach since taking over in tough circumstances, but we were never going to win a comp under him, no matter how good the roster. He deserves a lot of credit for bringing guys like Carney, Robson, Gibbs, De Gois (back), Lewis, Gordon and Heighington to the club, but he is not a top level NRL coach and never will be.
Our ruck/line speed under Flanagan has not been up to the standard of other top NRL clubs and neither has our cohesion in attack, or our discipline in defence/with the ball.
If he indeed does move on from the Sharks, then I wish him all the best. But I must say as a Sharks fan, I prefer Peter Sharp as coach.
