I'll have a go, curious how close I'll be:

1. Gardner
2. Wright
3. Pomeroy
4. Best
5. Williams
6. Graham
7. Carney
8. Gibbs
9. De Gois (Stoked to see this guy back in our No 9)
10. Ross
11. Tupou
12. Smith
13. Gallen (c) (team god)

14. Fifita
15. Tagatese
16. Bukuya
17. Morris.

What do you guys think? Am I in the ball park.

I've defended Pom for a while on this forum, but yeah, patience is running out, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt because its the start of the year. Needs to perform or I reckon he wont last 3 or 4 games.

I agree but I really think having Fifita start will be better for him in this game.

Respectfully disagree. I think until Fifita is best suited to an impact role off the bench at the moment until he can prove that he can work big minutes.

Why is anyone predicting Tupou will start? Flanagan showed last year that he sees him as an impact player.

Good way to wreck some good guesses. I reckon Snowman is closest to the mark so far, except for the Tupou shenanigans. Bukuya would start instead.

I really hope Townsend is in the halves before Graham.

Well he seems to be a more natural fit than Graham. I think we would be a far better balance team with Townsend in the 7. Did I just agree with Wilson? Maybe there is something to this 2012 ****.

Shame we don't have a trade system like most American sports. Toops would be ideal trade bait to secure some decent outside backs. Regardless I don't see him coming back next year.

Fafita off the bench

id go with

Gardz
Mills
Best
Pom
Williams
Carney
Graham
Ross
DeGois
Gibbs
Bakuya
Smith
Gallen

Green

Play Degois for 80. the best ones play 80. Farrah, Smith etc.

so does toops. i would rather start taga and have his big frame launching at small bodies on the edge then bring on toops

The thing Toops has that none of the other 2nd rowers have is ball playing before, on & in the line... I hope this is used a whole lot more!!!

Which is exactly why he should come off the bench. Maximise the minutes you have him on the field for. If we manage to keep Carney/Gards fresh Toops could gift them some brilliant offloads. Have either Frizell or Bukuya start and sub off with Toops.

Also that way we have the ability to really take over games in stages. We can keep the game tight in the first 20 with Ross, Gibbs, Jez, Bukuya/Frizell, Gal in the pack. Mostly grinders with that bit of flair in Bukuya/Friz. Then slowy bring on the fresh opportunistic players like Toops/Fafita/Taga off the bench and maximise their time on the field.

This is what I think the team will most likely be but if I were coach I'd go for something closer to the team Josho picked above.

I'm tipping the 1st team will look something like this;

1. Gardner
2.Wright
3. Best
4. Pommeroy
5. Mills
6. Graham
7. Carney
8. Gibbs
9. DeGois
10. Ross
11. Smith
12. Bukuya
13. Gallen

14. Tagatese
15. Tupou
16. Robson
17. Fifita

the backs are definitely the contestable positions and i tip they are considering them as either left or right;
RIGHT (4/5) - Poms/Mills/Feki/Williams + Frizell
LEFT (2/3)- Best/Wright/Leutelle/Stapo + Bukuya

my tip is Poms will end up on bench in the Taga mould (if he gets injured) and Mills/Williams will be our right outside backs for majority of season...

if anyone saw how Mills handled Moga in the finals of NYC then we are on a winner with him in the centres..
