Gal for life is great - and the positive publicity it brings will be enough to overshadow any slightly negative publicity the club will receive for signing Carney.

Gallen - my favourite ever sharks player/nrl player/sporting hero!

Its gotta be more then just Gallen signing. If he was off contract, fair enough that would be big news. But he's signed for next year.

As for re-naming the Southern Stand, as if they would do that in the off-season. Do you think anyone else but us Sharks fans would care? Thats not news.

In the last few years we have been known as being poor on-field and just about broke off-field. So to be something positive its gotta be either an injection of cash (sponsorship or development related) or an injection of playing talent (Carney).

And then hopefully the icing on the cake will be Gallen signing for life.

I dont believe the club are choosing the right time to announce (if it is) Gallen for life.

Although we will be proud as punch, a lot of us couldnt help feeling a tad dissapointed hoping its Carney.

agree with you there hitman but, i rather sign Gallen for life than coming to the point where clubs are offering him big money and we are here this time next year listening to rumors of his future like right now we are about carney.

Gallen is number one priority in player signings!

good call mate, Gallen right now is probably the most feared, respected and dominating player in the game, worthy of offers ranging the 700 mark. If he slipt into a lot of sides, they would be instant premiership teams, I am very greatful.

However, I had no idea he was off contract! I thought he signed a long term deal last yr.

Maybe its that Northies are our new sponsor and that they are sponsoring the no. 7 jersey in prep for Carney next year. Do you reckon we could get a table blocked off at the leagues club and people could pay big money to go into a raffle for everyweek to have a beer with Todd and he will even drive you home.

He wasn't off contract.

I think he has 2 years to go, and has added 2 more. So its now 4 in total.

NRL.com has that Gallen is set to sign a 2 year deal and that we are going to sign carney to a short term deal at the end of the week. So probably both of them 2 sign 2 year deals by the end of the week
