i just think flanagan's a more creative dummy half.

I don't disagree with your team totally and I was a fan of Flanagan up until last week when he got bumped off twice, badly, in a front on tackle. Hopefully DeGois rumour has legs and Hooker is a position we don't have to worry about. I do agree about Graham. The way he is playing at the moment he is a lock more than a half. Great defence and looks dangerous when he takes the line on. I havent seen him do much creative with the ball in his hand. When you have Kelly and Townsend on the books it is probably only a matter of time.

Is Albert Kelly no good because he gets bumped off front on tackles?

Flanagan is 2kg heavier than AK - a little bloke is going to get bumped off from time to time.

On Flanagan:

- I can recall at least 3 try-saving tackles that Flanagan has made this year after somone else missed their man.
- How many times have we tried and failed with that inside ball play that setup the Gordon try on the weekend? That try is made because Flanagan commits the markers and because Gallen makes a great pass.

For ability to play football in and around the ruck, Flanagan is our best hooker, but Morris is quicker, has a better kicking game and can fill in elsewhere when needed. For all the problems we have at the moment I think the current hooker rotation should stay.

I reckon the top teams show that there is no need for a replacement hooker on the bench. Would prefer seeing Morris on for the full 80, leaving room for another forward, preferably Clayton, on the bench.

Back to topic on Graham, I am currently sick of him with a no.6 or 7 on his back. He is a backrower, the faster Flanno finds that out the better. He has not impressed me once this year (I did not see the Panthers game), kicking options have been poor and has not shown any attacking flair which we need. Only my opinion though :cheers

once gardner & kelly returns from injury, i would leave mills & gordan on the wings as both have been in good form & add much needed pace to our back line. i would move graham to lock, have porter at half back & kelly at 5/8. i know porter has not been outsanding but he has been the best half at kicking. plus i think graham could play his natural game. toops would have to drop to bench to make way for graham, toops played his best footy as a impact player. morris would have to play 80 minutes. bakuya deserves to retain his spot on the bench, with mannan, vave & coroda to compete for last bench spot.
because there is only one bench prop both gallen & jermey smith would have to play prop for part of the game.
if we went with this team, i think our back 3 players would be very dangerous., best would provide much needed experience, with porter doing the majority of the kicking & organisation. would allow both kelly & graham to concentrate on attack & defence. i think not having the burden of organising team & kicking will bring out the best in graham.a bench with both toops & pommeroy on it would provide much needed impact from bench.

1. Dragons
2. Storm
3. Sea Eagles
4. Cowboys
5. Warriors
6. Broncos

Every one of these teams consitently uses two hookers. Even Cameron Smith doesn't play 80 minutes at hooker every week - he plays elsewhere for 15-20 minutes per game even if he stays on for 80.

IMO even though JMo is capable of playing 80 minutes we still need someone on the bench who can play hooker. Maybe not a specialist, but having another hooker means that JMo can cover any injury (including prop, because JMo can go to back row if necessary and push a back-rower up). Without a second hooker we don't have this injury cover. Right now we don't have a Matt Hilder-type player who can cover hooker and somewhere else, so having one of Flanagan/Aiton on the bench is necessity.

For some reason Wade Graham reminds me a bit of Mitch Healey? Solid, good defender, talented but early in his career had an average kicking game!

Healey really worked hard on improving his kicking game and was often compared to Sticky now and then - I remember reading article at the time on how much extra work he put throughout his career to be successful long kicker!

Hope Graham can do the same because we need him too!

I'm happy if he ends up at lock and doesn't need a kicking game. This will let us have a legit halves pairing with him in a ball playing lock type role. That will give us a nice option out wide.

The thing I love about Graham is that he always seems to be putting in that bit of extra effort, giving 110% so to speak. Like last week getting back and batting the ball down in what would have been a sure try - he always seems to pop up in places like this, a true 80 minute player.

This being said, I'm sure he could do this and more from a different position... he would of grown up idolising Luke Lewis, he has the skills and body for it I say try to mould him around Lewis himself.

:good: like

However I wouldn't write off his kicking game just yet. He is still young and has time to develop. He is a natural Lock and would provide a solid THIRD kicking option. The halves should always be the first choice kickers in play. Full Stop.

this exactly. the defense will never quite know whos going to get the ball on the last. its not the worst kicking game in the world. shift the ball every now and then for a big kick off wade. its exciting. i LOVE wade. huge man love for him.

Talented, yes.

Poor kicking game, yes.

Good defender, no. Graham is responsible for more opposition line breaks this year than Best and Pomeroy combined - and those two have both been pretty bad.
