sounds gay

Who cares as long as it gives the shire a point of difference and makes the club some money people come a long way for things like this.

What about a Caravan Camping and 4x4 and fishing Expo as well always a good crowd puller to these especially with the large amount of future grey nomads we have in the shire.

Maybe the shires own wedding expo in the club and that the King W chuck on a smorgasbord for people when they are leaving.

I like the ideas of candles in the park for xmas as well that way people don't have to go all the way into the domain must be hard when you have kids.

I actually like the whole expo thing you could have 12 a year when we are playing away games to get traffic through the club having lunch and a drink as well makes the club some money that will have a flow on affect.

We've got a ready-made face of Fishing and "Outdoor Adventures" in ET.

Great post Willy

i dunno, sounds pretty gay

I've heard you like them pretty and gay.

Seriously though... more "IF" statements and less "NOT" statements wouldn't be bad. (Let's not get too boolean here - you know that logic will triumph)

I reckon our Club has struggled with the word "YES" for way too long.

As the Bhagwan says; "A positive breeds a positive."

We could play footy games there and get people to watch for money!

I dont think Buz thought of that.:nodlaugh

Sorry guys... I should have clarified "Ideas for the use of Toyota Stadium that will make money"

Apologies .

Does anyone think an outdoor cinema might work? This is something that could run anywhere from one night to a couple of weeks (which is why I like the idea ).

Summer months, Hollywood blockbusters, school hols, festive season, surf movies, classics, triple headers...Fvck, why stop there? Back to back Star Wars collection, Lord of the Rings, simulcast a massive OS concert........

[/SIZE]

From what I understand that was being looked into but its a good idea and another that could really work maybe use the other carpark and turn it into a drive in theatre on Saturday nights staff it with volunteers that get season tickets for so many hours work etc that way all money heads back to the club.

The first Movie could be Puberty Blues :nodlaugh

I could just see the Buz popcorn Cart the Caps Beer with a dash of sharks Rain cart Peachey standing on his I have NFI soapbox the Ironshark Mobile Gym the Willy how to become part time retired seminars etc.

Sharks Sustainable!

Sharks “Endeavour” Expo

An annual week-long conference and show devoted to showcasing science and technology focused on alternative energy, sustainability and environmental responsibility.

Use the Sharks Leagues Club facilities for lectures, presentations, debate forums etc., as well as conference dinners.

Use Shark Park itself as an open-air science & technology fair.

This would be a comprehensive platform for business and networking, focusing on sustainability, clean energy technologies, products and services, and their finance needs.

The Endeavour Expo would also be a unique trading and knowledge-sharing platform bringing together the leading players in the science, technology, services, finance and government sectors to address key issues in the areas of renewable energy, energy efficiency and sustainable development.

Key areas of the Endeavour Expo would include (… and definitely not limited to!)

  • Alternative Energy Harvesting, Management and Storage
  • Water Management & Re-use
  • Environment Protection
  • Waste Disposal, Recycling & Re-purposing
  • Green packaging
  • Building Practices
  • Personal and Public Transport Systems
Clean energy industry to include:

  • Solar / photovoltaic
  • Energy efficiency
  • Biomass energy
  • Geothermal energy
  • Wind / wave / hydro power
  • Hybrid fuel cell technologies.
The hook of this Expo and one that will differentiate this from all the other Expos is that we use Shark Park itself as an Energy Generation facility. Imagine a huge bank of Solar Cells &/or Wind Turbines on the Family Hill.

I’m sure Toyota and Austrade would love to be involved as co-sponsors. Toyota, in particular would love to have the exposure of its new technology vehicles.

Make it a Pacific Rim event encouraging interest from throughout the Asia-Pacific area. That obviously ties nicely in with the whole Captain Cook / Endeavour thing. When you think about it, the purpose of Cook's voyages were primarily scientific and strategic... perhaps the Sharks Endeavour Expo could be about strategic science.

Perhaps a fleet of electric buses could be used to ferry people from Woolooware Station to the Expo. Food & beverages sourced from sustainable and ethical suppliers. Packaging to be minimised and environmentally friendly.

As much as possible, the whole Endeavour Expo should be Carbon Neutral.

The bottom line…
When people think “Green” make them think Black, White & Blue

I like the green approach Fitzy. The Great Bunge is active in those areas.

As long as when they think of Black, White and Blue they dont think of Green the way it is here.

I reckon our Club has struggled with the word "YES" for way too long.

Sad but true.

Don't be hard on the Club though, "YES" is a word that most entities struggle with.

Anyone can can gain a greater understanding of this by counting how many times they hear the word "NO" on any given day.

Who wants to give it a go?

Surely the club could just list our venue with some kind of event management company.

The club could then just rent the venue out for all these things without hardly having to lift a finger.

Some of these events seem quite risky from a money making point of view. We would be much better off just leasing the venue rather than trying to organise everything. We are in the business of running a football club afterall. All this other stuff isnt really our specialty.

Slide,

When you think about it, The Club really is already an Event Management Company... it just so happens that the "Event" that they're managing is providing entertainment via a Rugby League team.

Likewise, Sharkies Leagues Club is in the business of hosting, managing and delivering events and entertainment.

In some ways, it sits closer to the core business functions of the Club than Property Developments and Investments.

I think this thread is all about thinking outside of the square... or in this case, a very large green rectangle.
