with the players we currently have signed for next season and the ones i expect will be re-signed here is our lineup.

1. N.Stapelton
2. B.Ferguson
3. M.Wright
4. J.Bukuya
5. L.Covell
6. T.Barrett
7. S.Porter
8. K.Snowden
9. J.Morris
10. L.Douglas
11. Williams
12. Tupou
13. Gallen

14. Mannah
15. Cutherbertson
16. Kelly
17. Seu Seu

The reason for two small blokes on the bench are that our 11-13 will/can play 80 minutes a game so all we need really is two props off the bench. And yes i think Cuthbo can play prop.

I dont think so. According to Great White he was signed to play prop unless i am mistaken. Plus that weight may be misleading as he is a big and powerful guy. Surely he hasnt just played backrow at manly.

yeah i think that less than 100 kilo stuff was made up by someone on here to try and persuade us to believe he's a 2nd rower. News out of Manly is saying that he is unfit and gaining weight. Can't see that 2nd row material.

Mate, please excuse my ignorance, but I am reletively new to this game, I just want to ask you...

I have been lead to believe that a prop requires an extreme level of fitness, due to the large workloads they are given, especially with the recent interchange rules,

I thought props like Price and Petero, would be fitter than backrowers like Gal and Thaiday?

So that bieng said, Cuts would have to be fitter to prop than to hang around in the back row?

Or am I way off......................... :cheers

hitman it all depends. Obviously Weyman isn't going to be fitter than Tupou as an example.

A lot of props play 40 minutes and those 40 minutes are made up of two 20 minute bouts. For example one may play the first and last 20 minutes with a massive (up to an hour) gap between the two stints. Another may play the last 20 of the first half, then have the half time break, then the first 20 of the second half.

Weyman I believe played only the first 15 minutes of origin. He quite obviously planned to do that and he worked pretty hard for those 15 minutes.

Conversely a lot of second rowers play 80 minutes. I don't think there's a hard and fast rule.

So most people seem to agree that we should ...

Probably re-sign:

Covell, Selmes, Bukuya, Millington

Maybe re-sign:
Ross, Kearney, Brown, Goodwin

Don't re-sign:
Donnelly, Norrie, Afamasaga, Simmons, Hughes, Green, Taulapapa

Recruit:
A hooker (Morris)
A prop (Cuthbertson)
A centre
Depth in the halves (Kelly)

I think we're going along nicely. One more prop would be good - both Cuthbertson and Douglas can cover back row.

You have Afamasaga there mate I don't know much about the bloke only he was a part of Manlys GF win he came over and played second fiddle to Ross, Ross got injured he took his place and got injured If I remember rightly he was killing it in the Reggies crossing the line on a number of times I think he still is under contract and deserves a bit of a run a bit early to punt him yet

how could selmes win our rookie of the yr and equate for nothing?

Has he got no ticker? Is he the kind of guy that because of his size would dominate in jrs, but when gets to first grade its too tough for him? It said on the sharks site how impressed ricky was with him, damn I was expecting big things.

Off contract
Luke Covell (wing)
Jacob Selmes (prop)
Jason Bukuya (backrow, centre)
Grant Millington (prop, second row)
Ben Ross (prop)
Brett Kearney ESL (fullback)
Mitch Brown (outside back)
Bronx Goodwin (outside back)
Ian Donnelly (prop)
Bryan Norrie (prop)
Jack Afamasaga (prop)
Corey Hughes (hooker)
Blake Green (half)
Misi Taulapapa (wing)

Signed
John Morris Wests Tigers (hooker)
Adam Cuthbertson Manly Sea Eagles (second row, prop)
Albert Kelly Parramatta Eels (half)
Broderick Wright Parramatta Eels (prop)

Re-signed
Scott Porter (half)

We have 14 players left off contract, out of the 15. We have 5 players that can cover the front row off contract, we have so far signed 2 in Cuthbertson and Wright. We have 5 outside backs off contract and have signed 0, so I'm hoping we re-sign Brown atleast. Rumor has it we are interested in speedster Geoff Daniela from Penrith and the versatile Jamie Simpson from Souths. I'd be happy with either or both as depth. Then we have brought in Morris to replace Hughes and to also add depth to the halves, an upgrade IMO and we had 2 halves off contract in Green and Porter. We have since re-signed Porter for 2 seasons and have invested in promising youngster Albert (AK47) Kelly.

So we had 15 players coming off contract this season, we have signed 5. So I'm confident there is to be more money spent signing and re-signing players. Maybe even Verlinden to step up to fulltime squad in the up coming off season? Again I'd like to re-sign Brown for 2 years and Ross on an incentive based contract for 1-2 years.

To note we have signed NYC players Rodney 'Mofo' Moefaauo (prop) and Nathan Gardener (fullback, wing) from Parramatta.

When did we sign those blokes? Aparently that Nathan Gardner bloke is a good goal kicker. Havnt seen Mofo play. And would rather Jamie Simpson over Daniela.
Also doubt weel risk signing up Ross again. We bag Kearney who spends less time then Ross on sidelines and who has been one of our best performers and key players when he plays and payed nothing compared to Ross who lets be honest has not put in nearly enough decent performances at his time here. Either sign up a good experienced prop (Scotts name is being thrown in lately) to lead with Douglas, with Snowdan off bench or use the money elsewhere and use these many young forwards we have signed up.

These are the guys I would look to resign out of the list of off contract players above, would still like to see a estabilished first grade prop signed for next year, Matt Scott or Tronc would be fine

just heard richard fisk on the radio saying we were going for a youth policy.might be a good idea due to our financal situation some senior player are hesitant to sign and we have to pay over the odds.
three of these young blokes come with huge wraps brodrick wright ,albert kelly , and va ve . hopefully at least one of them fufill their potential .
looks like they are building for the future not a quick fix like last year
