Just wondering what do we reckon the forward minutes split looks like for round 1?

Hoping the boys in our pack sees this as the start of proving they aren’t going to be the who’s dropped to make way for AFB next year. Won’t be surprised if one of our boys goes after him to try be the alpha.
Hunt, for sure.
It's a pity BHU won't be there.

Team Tips: One of the most settled teams in the competition. Captain Dale Finucane’s 2023 season ended prematurely due to a biceps injury, but he’s going to travel to NZ and play in Round 1. The Sharks’ back five picks itself this season, with Connor Tracey departing for the Bulldogs. The halves pairing is locked in and Toby Rudolf is also set to return after battling turf toe in 2023 and also in this pre-season. He could start on the bench but will likely be in the run-on side, with Jack Williams and Jesse Colquhoun battling it out for the final bench spot. It could go either way, but Williams has been excellent in pre-season according to his teammates and will likely get the nod, handing Craig Fitzgibbon another middle forward to inject into the game whenever he pleases.

unlikely given Jesse is out indefinitely with a foot injury!

Depends who starts.

… but assuming no BHU + Toby in the starting team.

Toby / starter = 80 combined
McInnes / Williams = 80 combined
Finucane / bench / bench = 80 combined

That would change a fair bit if Toby found himself outside the 13 or if they went with only 3 forwards on the bench.

Anyone hearing anything on Hynes' injury? @The Punisher , don't suppose you're working your magic fingers on his quad?

This season hinges on the fitness of Hynes and Trindall

We don't have Moylan anymore and not even Connor Tracey or Wade Graham to slot in on a whim yet alone cover a long term out in the halves.

Our available halves depth in Puru & Atkinson is a massive step down in quality and experience.

Getting Dykes fit will be key be he is still very raw and will take time to get his confidence and groove back. Want to see him getting game time in lower grades as soon as possible in-case we need to call on him. He was very reserved and hesitant in the trials which wouldn't cut it in FG.

Showed alot of promise last season though

Cheers mate. Reliably on hand with the answers to the questions we weren't asking ;)

That's what separates the talented posters from the honest toilers although it would be amiss to suggest you work hard on here. You're more like a coaches son or a diversity hire.

If you aren't scared of what happens if Hynes or Trindall goes down you should be. Personally any extended lay off of either player I see as season over.

@Gards probably a conversation for the General Sharks thread rather than the round 1 thread.

Agree though. Halves depth a big question mark.

Could say the same for most sides. Panthers and Warriors may be able to handle losing their 6, but outside of that I see either half going down as season over for most other sides. Newcastle might escape too but only because all their halves are just as average as their back ups.

A little bitey at the cheeky dig there, Gards. It's all good, all in jest mate. Thought you'd been around long enough to avoid suggesting people are retarded though.

If Nicho is out for this game there's no easy solution, that's for sure.

NRL CASUALTY WARD

Sharks halfback Nicho Hynes missed the pre-season clash with the Bulldogs due to a minor quadriceps injury but is expected to play in Round 1, while the Sharks will be without forward Jesse Colquhoun indefinitely due a foot injury.

Kade Dykes will miss the opening rounds with a hamstring problem.

I was bitey, was half way through my lunch

Diversity comes in many forms, being special don't make you 'insert that thing that AFB called that bloke one time'

Big Ham have a fork in him for Round 1?
