Fair enough. Ciraldo has had 16rds at Dogs, JH 2.5 seasons - little more to work with there if you wanted to judge them. But I wasn't calling anyone ****. JH is still Titans coach if it wasn't someone with Des' quality being available IMO. Des just too good to refuse.
But is Des quality?
When was the last time he did anything?
His first stint at Manly was decent- but ended in 2017
Since then he stank at Dogs and then Manly again, created long lasting damage with back ended contracts.
If theyd have sacked JH for Bellamy or Cleary id have understood, even someone like Ryles a highly rated up coming coach, but Des just doesnt sit with me

Don't know how you can say he stank at the Dogs. Got them to a GF playing a unique brand of footy at the time.

I'll agree he doesn't often leave rosters in good shape though.

1st stint at Manly ended 2011. Then 5yrs at Dogs 2x runners up. Immediately improved Manly on return. He's got a good CV & highly regarded in the game. Keep him away from cap management probably.

Des brings a bit of NRL clout & legitimacy to soulless GC franchise that's never been taken very seriously under any of their names.

Personally I think this is the best signing the titans have ever made. Truly believe Des can get this club right up there in a couple of years.

I think its a dumb signing
Not only cost them JH but also Mal in the process
But Foran will be happy cause Daddy Des is going there

Mal was there as some kind of consultant and they replaced the head coach without even him knowing

Mal was head of culture at the Titans which is interesting cause they don't have any

Des is a good appointment in the sense he is kinda old school and hard nosed, I don't think he will take any **** from his players. That club has needed a kick up the ass for a long time.

Don't think it will build any long term success though, that is a big ask of that club and Des more recent NRL coaching and list management is questionable. But if the club can learn from the Des experience and attract some better players I guess it's a step in the right direction.

Mals done nothing there except cash a pay cheque each week.
I think it’s good for them and I think you’re right.

Pay one guy to do it all instead of pay a head coach and a figure head.

Probably saving money in the process.

Mal is the one the biggest rugby league coaching and political frauds going around!.....good player though....
100%. I'm a qlder through and through but fmd with the players they had through those golden years anyone could of coached that side to the success they had. Mal is a flog. But yeah what a player he was!
