Just want to point out that Sam Kerr has scored 82 goals in her 100 appearances for Chelsea, that strike rate is insane. Cannot wait for her to get her due spotlight down here at the World Cup this year.
At what point does she come into consideration for their men's team?

The new law regarding GK’s and penalties:

"The defending GK must remain on the line, facing the kicker, between the posts until the ball is kicked.

"The GK must not behave in a way that unfairly distracts the kicker, e.g. delay the taking of the kick or touch the goalposts, crossbar or net."

- IFAB Law Changes 23/24

So that’s Redmayne International career done then…..

Is this necessary?
Hard enough to stop as it is
Just give them the goal and move the game along if you don’t want goalie to stop it

In your head, rent free
For those who aren’t aware of the magnitude of this win. England are:
• European Champions
• One of the World Cup favourites
• Until this morning, on a 30 game unbeaten streak.
• Apart from 1 or 2 rotated players, they played their regular starters.
are the matildas still one of the best in the world?

Ranked 10th in the world. Was much higher a few years ago but the ranking took a hit when Gustavsson took over after Stanjcic got knifed. Morale hit rock bottom and they went on a bit of a losing streak including an early exit in the Asian Cup knockout rounds. They turned it around though.

Having Sam Kerr in the team is always going to make other teams fear them but Australia is considered a step below the top teams at the moment. Although with a home World Cup and Australia starting to hit some form, the Tillies are a legitimate chance to go all the way.

Looks like one of our old foes Uruguay will be coming here in June/July for a two game friendly series. Not sure which cities are hosting yet, likely Sydney and Melbourne again, but some noise that Adelaide might be rewarded for their strong crowd numbers in the A-League with one of the games.

I dont mind this two game series format they’ve been running with lately, its pretty unique around the world and quite necessary to attract teams out here, even though we went 1 win - 1 loss. I think the Ecuador series in March was a success.

Uzbekistan, Syria and India in our Asian cup draw. I’ll admit to not being totally up to date with Asian football but fox sports are reporting this as a tricky group.

Doesn’t seem that tricky, @CrazyMatt you probably would know better. What are your thoughts?

Uzbekistan are a strong team but play an aggressive style that plays into our hands and Syria have given us problems in the past, they sit deep and they’re difficult to break down. We should lap India.

But anything short of topping this group will be a major disappointment.

The squad’s in for friendly against the Argies.

IMG_8257.jpeg

A lot of youth in there. Joel King’s a weird selection considering he has been rather average in his loan stint with Sydney FC and you’ve got Callum Elder being a key member and consistently good performer for Hull City.

Arnold won the race for young Parma (Serie B, Italy) defender Alessandro Circati who was also heavily courted by the Italian national set up. A very good get this one.

No Craig Goodwin hurts, but injury forces the Johnny Warren medalist out.

Overall a good mix of youth and experience. Arnie definitely does have his eye on the future with squad.

Marco Tillio (Melbourne City) being linked to Rapid Wien in Austria. I actually think this would be a superb move for him, Austria is a great stepping stone into the bigger European Leagues, hope it happens.

Overall, definitely not a terrible performance by the Socceroos, were in control for parts of it. Argies ultimately too classy of course.

Socceroos will play Gold Cup champions Mexico on September 9th in Dallas. That and the games in October against England and NZ will round out preparations for the World Cup qualifiers starting in November.
