News flash

Moylan is not in the team for his defensive plays
Agree but his D (or to an extent that edge) has been quite ordinary to start year.

While they work on that I’d love everyone to stop giving away great field position to the opponents to let them take advantage

We're not the first team to have a 'weak' defensive half... Not even the first Sharks team. I'm more concerned that teams aren't having much trouble finding and isolating Moylan. That's not solely his fault.

If he’s the right make up for a premiership winning squad.
I’m for it.

I agree. Not his fault.

He’s picked on what he can deliver.
If his team mates (who are better defenders) aren’t delivering, then it is a team problem.

Again, wouldn’t have him in my best sharks 17.
But I’m not the coach. And I’m not paid to be.

I don't think he will next week. But Tricky has outplayed him significantly in 2/3. I don't necessarily think Hynes or Tricky defend much better than Moylan in that spot though, that whole edge is a disaster.

At some stage there's surely a tipping point if Moylan is going to show up in 1/3.

True Maloney was a defensive weak half; though he had good cover defence.
however Trindall is playing well and his defence is solid.
moylan has been outplayed by tricky. tricky is hungry and I think this yr would be a breakout year for him

Considering he’s the one that re signed Moylan for 2 years I hope Fitz is not one of those coaches that is stubborn and refuses to drop or change players

There's still something to be said for giving combinations time to develop. That is something Fitz clearly is big on, as he stated how he loved how much of our squad had been playing together for a while. I don't think he needs to make wholesale changes after 3 rounds, but I don't think he'd ignore Moylan playing like rds 1 and 3 for too long. If Hynes comes back, and we get more of Moylan rd 2, Tricky will be waiting a bit longer I think.

Moylan's defence outside of the goal line is generally pretty good.

I thought Fitz had a good point about how long a young half could sustain a run of form at first grade level.
You could be right though, but I think this experience sets him up beautifully for when we move Moylan on.

It's all conjecture... but at this point I'd say Moylan's experience in big games puts him ahead insofar as helping get us closest to a premiership.

Bit of a passenger tonight, besides his tip off for the try.

Looked worse when Hynes went off, but expected when you're now the main playmaker and you're pretty average.

Hope Trindall gets a chance with Hynes some point this year.

Yep, his attacking kicks were dreadful
Hynes deserves a better halves partner.
Better teams will put pressure on Hynes and Moylan isnt the man to take it off his shoulders and lead the team around the field
