He came back at the end of last year.

Going well. Ended up having to play in the halves because they had quite a few out. Did a decent job.

If an NRL team had him he'd instantly become the best (attacking) ball-playing lock in the game. He just gets caught out in defence too often and has the odd brain-fade. Those things are fixable imho. I wouldn't mind seeing another team take a flyer on him as a dev player and throw him in the gym for a year.

I thought Melbourne might have a crack at him with all the forwards they lost recently tbh.

Interesting, best ball playing lock in the game is a huge call. If that's true, I'm surprised no one hasn't picked him up already.

Someone that would shine if they went to super league???

He only wants to play oz tag, wants to try every play under the sun, not give a **** about defence and would rather just turn up on game day and do zero training. Doesn’t want a coach telling him what to do except go out have fun.

I’d rather him not even at the Jets!

Kind of crazy to think due to NRL/injuries this team is missing Trindall, Tracey, Hazelton, Williams/Graham and Ikuvalu
Not that you could ever hope to have a full fit squad.

when hynes returns and trindall possibly goes back to hb for the jets what happens there?

does atkinson bump gagan out to the wing and then plays centre? mansour bumps rodwell well out?

newtown obviously have their own contracted players, are they an automated selection over sharks players?

No, sharks players will take priority (I’m pretty sure).

I think the ‘first choice’ spine is likely

1 Tracey
6 Atkinson/Puru
7 Trindall
9 Berrell

14 Puru/Atkinson
But at least one of these guys will be NRL 18/19th man most weeks so shouldn’t be too often. Question is if Tracey is 18th man does Atkinson play FB, or Hiroti?

Def an extra layer to juggle if Dykes had been fit but maybe they play Tracey at centre/wing and Jets don’t sign Gagan or Mansour

Don’t forget JC as well
Yeah didn't initially mention him and Dykes as they are longer term injuries (Ikuvalu kind of is as it seems like he wasn't telling the full truth when he said he'd be ready for round 1).
The other guys I initially named are all held out more just due to Graham suspension, Hynes calf and general 18/19th man duty.

Most good teams should have a damn good reserves side if they had a fully fit squad though. And Jets did very well last year, screwed around a bit by draw.
