Useless finals series especially for a senior “half” next to the guy in his first year.

I don't think he had as bad a game as a lot of people are saying. He won us back the ball in a few contests.

At least he was mixing it and trying to change the game, which is more then be said of most of our squad.

He’s one of the main reasons we have to play eyes up footy because not much other game plans suit him. Watch his game yesterday closely and he is always trying to do a trick play he didn’t care if it was 2nd or 3rd, there were times the pass wasn’t on and he still threw it and we knocked it on or got belted

TBF, same can be said about Nico’s game. Trick plays 2nd, 3rd, 4th tackles.

If you said at the start of the year, we would get to play 2 weeks in the finals, we would have all jumped at that, as realistically most thought bottom half of top 8 this season (some even thought we miss out altogether).
They gave us some great footy during the home and away period so we got to enjoy that throughout the season.

We need to learn from this finals series and aim up next year (we were really a 6,7,8th side this year).

Another year under our belts, another year older for our young guys, another off season with Fitz at the helm, expectations at start of the season would now be a top 4 and a more realistic challenge at the GF (No pressure Fitz).

We have two ex fullbacks in the halves, both better suited as 5-8s. We need an experienced genuine halfback to go all the way. Nicho had a break out season first year top grade at no.7, but both need to improve with game management, organising and completing sets and also kicking game. Moylan plays his best footy with a proper halfback, think his best game this year was against storm when Trindall was half back, roles were simplified more, not overplayed, so was the game plan, managed the game with Trindalls kicking, focussed on getting through sets and completions, showed what a difference having a proper halfback makes. Hoping Hynes can turn into a proper 7 after a break out year, Moylan is heading to the end of his career, so he's set in his ways or style of playing, only thing he would be able to learn and add to his bag would be a better kicking game.

Hynes is an ex-fullback? He's played more off the bench in the NRL then fullback, so doesn't that make him an ex-utility?

That too, but he was in good form at fullback at storm when Papenhauzen was out, and the position he excelled in. Imo storms mistake last year, was going into finals moving Hynes from fullback when Papz returned.

Think our real shot at the title will be 2024, we get an experienced genuine 7 off contract next season eg Moses or Hunt, Moylan at 6, then you could move Hynes to full back

I like this. However do believe dykes can own that number 1 jersey for many years to come.

Moses/Burton/Brown - if we could somehow sign one of them for 2024, partnered with Hynes in the halves and Dykes at FB (if he develops as we hope) that would be great!

I still think Brown is just much more expensive better Moylan

Just due to the timing of it with Moylan and Dykes already signed it doesn’t seem like a contract worth fighting for to me

Like what I've seen so far of Dykes👍🏾 But if we have premiership window for next two seasons, he'd be still green in 2024, especially if he's stuck behind kennedy

If we went for another 5-8, has to be a proper 5-8 or someone that can game manage or be the dominant half, like Burton, Wighton or Munster, would take alot off pressure off Hynes at 7. Means Moylan has to go, maybe to left centre.

I like Moyza, prefer to get a proper 7 first, and have Hynes at fullback, that's a strong spine with experience if we got a Hunt or Moses at 7. Hynes would be free to roam more, sharper play making skills after playing half back, more experience, confidence and leadership at the back than the younger fullbacks we have.

Mate Hynes isn't going to go to fullback. We signed him to be a half. Let's not do the Myolan thing again.
