I get he was probably injured, but I don't think he would be using that as an excuse. If you take the field you have to make that tackle on Murray. It was piss weak.

One of the reasons we were so excited about the combo of him/McInnes was the intensity, experience and fire that they would bring to the side, especially for big games. We saw very little of that over the two finals games. Many of our forwards regressed from their best periods of the season if anything.

Not pinning that just on Dale, just think that our coach/leadership team really missed the mark on getting the side up.

The Souths game wasn't the Dale we'd expect. Someone might have needed to tell him that there's tough and then there's liability. Feels a bit rough saying that as he was still all effort, but he looked to be hurting a lot more than was practical to deliver the full-Finucane

I don't think it was the wrong call to select Dale - players are always battling varying degrees of injury or niggles week to week and I think everyone was surprised with some of his mistakes, perhaps including himself and his coach.

Fair argument to be made that he was given too many minutes under the circumstances and subbed off at the wrong time/s

We missed go forward from Hunt & Talakai as well and I started to wonder if Fifs was actually playing he was brought on so late

Giving Tolman cameo type minutes (relatively speaking for his big motor) is strange in a game where everyone except Aiden forgot how to tackle and some of our players were fatiguing after a big game against Cows week before which Aiden didn't play in.

Yes Aiden lacks impact with his carries but were our impact forwards really going to get the job done? we still only scored 2 trys anyway and we struggled with our go forward regardless.

We were down so many points it wouldn't have mattered what forwards we put out there it was going to be our halves and backs that needed to save the game and come up quickly with some big plays (which they did but a couple were disallowed)

Maybe someone like Tolman out there defending and tackling longer just might have meant there was a couple less points to chase as bunnies really piled it on late game - game likely done for us anyway though

I hope Fitz isn't the stubborn type when it comes to his bench selections / rotations and learns from this season and is open to making some changes to how he manages his bench particularly on the fly during a game when we are struggling or if an opportunity presents itself.

I get a coach goes into a game with a pre conceived idea or plan on how he will use his bench but you gotta be adaptable when things don't to go to plan - guess he trusted our systems and backed his players and game plan to turn the tide but none of that is gunna be enough to compensate for missed tackles and errors in the quantities we put up

If you watch the tackle watch how woeful Teigs effort is. Dale should have made it but Teig was no help

It did feel like we needed more starch up front early on, and Tolman and Fifita would have provided it. Not exactly our starting squad but considering injuries probably the best choices on the day (with 20/20 hindsight).

Once the Souths forwards got on top of us... in the third minute... there was no reigning them back in.

We could’ve had papali up there and we still would’ve dished the same result.

The gameplan wasn’t to go through the middle at all they were too busy trying to go side to side - pretty silly considering they had burgess out, Fitz lived and died by telling his halves play eyes up this year

I still have nightmares of Wade Graham and Kennedy “attempting” to tackle Dearden

I'd take my chances if we could get him!

You do see team try to go around when they can't go through them, and that's what we fell into. Miserably.

At the game you could see it from a Mile away, you would just watch Moylan and Kennedy float at the back and everyone knew here we go again .. South’s ate it up and we just wanted to keep showing how flashy we were

Some of the ball movement and shapes we run are awesome, but we've definitely gotten more predictable
