I know im gonna get slammed for this, but id also change the backroom and sign a new assistant other than Josh Hanney.
Wasnt a fan of his appointment initially, obviously he filled in as interim coach when Bomber left, and stayed to help with the transition

Helping with Qld transition to

I wouldn’t personally say I have a good idea of how good an assistant coach he is or isn’t.
Some around the NRL seem to think he has half a brain though… but sure if there is someone better get them

Barrett would have worked.
Was the mastermind behind Penrith attack.
Great assistant coach but couldn't cut it as head coach

More of Dykes
No Wade at all
No Moylan more Trindall
Less of Hynes at 7 and more of him at 6

Yes to Dykes but not sure we'll see him till maybe later in the season, guess depends on their off seasons (Kennedy and Dykes) and how Dykes starts the year for the Jets.

Agree on Wade but feel its all but certain he's sticking around.

Defn NO to more Trindall, he doesn't have it. Choked for the Jets yesterday. Stick with Moylan till a better option is available. Trindall isn't it

This fascination with Hynes at 7 or 6 is funny. It doesn't make a difference, he's going to be our main playmaker and he's going to do it at 6 or 7, number on his jersey makes no difference. For his FIRST year at 7 he was excellent - in the top few in TA, LBA and Forced Drop outs. Goal kicking greatly improved once he got that kicking coach in. Kicking selection needs to improve but that will come with more games.

Be interesting to see who we re-sign out of the remaining backs over the next few months (particularly Kennedy). All I can say is thank god we signed Ronaldo.

Left side is the obvious one for me.

Talakai at centre whilst successful isn't a long term option. He needs to go edge forward, but then what do we do with Graham/Tieg. Assuming Graham stays on. Talakai is most successful when he plays big minutes, so needs to play long minutes what ever position he is in.

Iro at centre seems the obvious choice given his form for the Jets and left centre is his main position. He's big on metres too, so will not lose too much from Talakai's hit ups out our zone.

I see why people are saying we need another middle, not sure there's room for one given our current squad numbers but wouldn't say no. Graham in the middle was a failure.

Graham for all his done does help solve some problems if he doesn't play on.

Other than that given we had a successful year and our current contract squad for next year can't see too many changes.

Year one of a new defensive structure they'll be better for it this off season.

Barrett has caused nothing but problems wherever he's gone, Penrith didn't even escape him unscathed.

Hannay has just overseen Queensland's attack in a series they were given no chance to win and has completely overhauled ours as well. He deserves more time with this team.

Extension should be off the table for Will.
Make him earn it next year or let him walk.
I'd be given him max a one year deal just to cover our options. For mine he's not the answer if we want to go deep into finals footy.

Not sure Dykes is either but keen to see his development.

Club has BIG wraps on Siteni Taukamo. Should move up to Flegg next year and joins our full time training squad I believe.

We might see Dykes at 6 and Siteni at 1 in a few years ?

Hynes shouldn’t be organising as much as he should and he shouldn’t be kicking as much as he should.. we all know his running game is where he butters his bread or when he can spot a chink in the other teams armour.

In terms of building pressure, repeat sets, fifth tackle options and being a player that can settle a team and tell your forwards to just roll up the field Hynes and Moylan ain’t none of those things as well, all they both wanted to do was trick plays and we deserved the belting we got for it

Dykes should be the long-term 6 for mine but is good enough to supersede Will at the back for the time being.

Siteni is a great prospect but defense still his biggest question mark currently, he's also still only 17 though so has plenty of time to improve. I'd be curious to see him in NSW cup a couple of times next year if his body is ready for it.

I am not sure if this is the right topic to put this message in, but here is a quick recap of the forum's feelings during the year:

Fitzy (and the team) will be considered if we make;

Off-season: the finals.
First half of the season: top 6
Week 12 to Week 20: top 4
Week 20-25: Top 4. The we came second.
Finals: GF. If we are beaten by the Cowboys, then we are done. We may have a chance against the Panthers.

After Rabbitohs game: We are so bad. The whole team is a pretender.

I think sometimes we need to remember where we came from. With a bit of chance, luck and healthy players we could have gone as far as the GF this year. It didn't happen however lots of positives this year:

- We are not shown in a negative light in the media anymore
- We are back in the PointsBet Stadium.
- The development is going well. The club's finances seems to be doing well.
- We are able to attract good names to the club.
- We have no trouble selling the sponsor spots on the jersey.
- No board room dramas.
- No player-related dramas.
- We are basically on the Up Up.

Let's enjoy.

You’re being optimistic - every time we’ve basically played a top shelf team we’ve sh*t the bed.

Coming second meant nothing we obviously lucked out, we’ve shown we can’t beat any of the teams in the top 8 so in reality when we look at it there is lots of improvement needed because whatever Fitz was trying to do isn’t all that tbh - good lesson for him and something that probably needed to happen

We went from being a basket case last year, to talking about a grand final this year. Yes it didn't end the way we would have like, but the future is bright.

I'd imagine 2023 recruitment is pretty much done, which means we have to play the cards we have. Love to see Iro and Dykes put some pressure on first grade spots though 2024 may be more likely.

Biggest change for me is the bench. Rotating Wade through the middle isn't working and if we play McInnes in the middle, we need some size with the other 3 benchies.

Someone worth having a play at will be released during the off-season, hopefully the klemmer situation gets worse.

Fitz really needs to work on his rotations in general, would say it's probably the biggest area of improvement for him.
