Not sure what the GF is worth to the economy, but I'm pretty sure you could sell a 5 yr contract to Qld, or even do a NZ/Vic/WA/SA tour and you'd get enough money to do up 3 stadiums
I reckon it would vary a lot depending on the teams in the GF. Two Sydney teams, probably not a lot. A big club like Broncos making the GF, probably quite a bit.

Your not suggesting the NRL would give preferential treatment to teams like Brisbane, Cowboys and Melboure so hopefully they make the GF are you?

Surely not things like Constant Friday night games, ridiculous bunker decisions after fulltime to gift them 2 competition points, having players who do blatant elbows get off suspensions etc.

I am disgusted you are indirectly implying such things!!!

No mate was responding to how much money a GF brings to Sydney. That benefits the Government, not the NRL.

Ok. But I am still implying such things!

The better out of Sydney team go the better potential revenue through TV rights etc.

Good to see Fordham try and keep the Sports Minister on his toes

Source : News.com

And more from Brisbane Times

While there is nothing in writing that will force the government into honouring any suburban ground funding, the NRL believes the original agreement for Sydney Olympic Park still stands.

Sources have told the Herald that the NRL alleges there is a legally binding agreement to invest $800 million into the upgrade of Stadium Australia and will hold the government to the deal despite the code’s preference for money to be redirected into boutique stadiums.

“I assume if the state government is to backflip on its commitment to fund suburban stadiums, then the $300 million committed to the Penrith stadium can now be better utilised for schools and hospitals?

“It would be outrageous for Penrith to retain its stadium for the obvious political benefit of its local member.”
This might help!

Caught the end of a conversation on radio this morning, the $350m allocated to Penrith would easily cover the renovations to Brookvale, Leichhardt and Shark Park, with change (don't think Belmore was mentioned).

They also mentioned that money needed for Penrith could blow out an extra $200m, making it $550m to another Western Sydney stadium

~$550m would fix up Penrith, Brookvale, Belmore, Leichhardt, Shark Park.

Could even throw a couple of dozen million at Campbelltown, Wollongong, Central Coast and even Kogarah
So the question has to be asked on the state government “why waste it all at one venue?”

Pork barrelling at its finest. It was Ayres seat and apparently it was under threat at the next election. Well now that Ayres has been turfed for being a corrupt criminal, the seat is pretty much gone anyway.
