Buckleys and no chance prizing him away from the Roosters now
Hate to see the Roosters who stole him off Rabbits lose him ;)

A secret contract clause could lead to the NRL’s Wallabies Joseph Suaalii and Sydney Roosters playing Rugby World Cup on Australian soil

  • Before competing, Suaalii was a rising high school rugby star in high demand
What makes this push from Rugby Australia even more interesting is the fact that Suallii reportedly has an escape clause in his Roosters contract that allows him to change his code.

Suaalii was a promising talent for rugby schoolboys before being signed by the Rabbitohs while still in high school and Rugby Australia heavyweights believe he would make the transition easy.

While Rugby Australia plans an attack on the NRL ranks to secure a number of players – including targeting Bulldogs and NSW center Matt Burton – Rugby Australia chairman Hamish McLennan said Suaalii was their number 1 target.

“We were sad to lose Joseph to the league, but there is an incredible path to the 2027 Rugby World Cup, if he and others want it,” said McLennan.

“We need to close the private equity deal, get some money in the bank, but yeah, we’re definitely going to target the Premier League stars.”

Whether Rugby Australia manages to land their man will be up to Sualli himself.

The 19-year-old wants to play fullback but is stuck behind Australian incumbent James Tedesco and Kiwi superstar Joey Manu. However, he remains loyal to the Chooks and may be difficult to dislodge.

I know the whole 'roosters sombrero' etc etc. But I think they are going to struggle to fit them all in. They have managed to keep Manu on good coin in the outside backs, but I think the cap will be stretched if the have to significantly upgrade Suaalii too due to outside pressure. He seems more of a mercenary than other players too with all the talk around union/how he left Souths due to huge demands. They are also going to have to significantly upgrade Walker before he becomes available to other clubs too.

I think Keary will be the one to get squeezed out first, and I honestly wont be surprised if in a few years Teddy takes a huge retirement contract somewhere else too.
Suaalii's current contract has player options for 2023 and 2024... can opt in if he wants, or can opt out and try and force more $$ out of them (or someone else). Good luck to the Roosters, but he doesn't seem the loyal type.

Can't bring myself to Support Manly this weekend, but i suppose a win by them benefits us? Also i guess if they Jag a win against Eels in a tough one, less likely to beat us a week later. Or A loss by Manly sees them effectively out of finals race and more likely to turn toes up against us? Thoughts?

I think his parents had a lot to do with his negotiations, they know they are onto a good thing.
Hopefully not to the detriment of their boy.

Manly always beat us. Not even thinking about this.

Wow. So Brandon Smith gets penalised for hip drop (because Tino stayed down) but the tackle on Kennedy was OK.

I don’t like Cameron Munster but I’d be a bit more appreciative of his skill if he’d just stop poking his tongue out when he scores a try.

It’s a bit like Latrell’s arrogance, can’t stand it.

Is he? I’ve never really noticed. If he does, it’s not like Munster. He goes looking for the camera. He’s an arrogant prick, can’t stand him.
You mustn't watch our games very closely mate.

Ha ha, of course I do. Do you really think what Ronnie does is just as bad or worse than Munster? I honestly don’t think so.

I’ll watch closely if Ronnie scores on Saturday night. :)
When he scores.
