Can definitely see him doing exactly the same thing next year as he has been switching back and forth from 5/8 to full back for the jets and first drop for in both positions next year.
I love the switching back and forth to strengthen his game all round and allows for his body to cope with the added defence in the front line for a few weeks then the added fitness at the back.

Dykes 1: Kennedy looks for new club
Dykes 6: Moylan retires, prob also means Trindall is looking for a new club also unless Hynes is not resigned

How talented is Kade? How does his game compare to his Dad's (Adam Dykes played 183 games for Cronulla)? Similarities/differences?
Adam Dykes was my favourite player when I was a teenager, and I've been following Kade for a while now. It's hard to get footage of junior reps, but I've watched every accessible minute of him in the last two years.

He's bigger and faster. Maybe not as creative, but can definitely make a sweet pass as part of a set play. Defence at NSW Cup level has been about as good as his dad's - but the kid is only 20 so I can forgive him for that. He should improve in that area.

He played one game at 7 for the Jets. I don't think that's his spot. Was a 6 up until 2020 and then was moved to 1 last season. He scored a bunch of tries but had no passing game. This season he has bounced between 1 and 6. As others have said above I reckon he could be successful in either spot. The improvement in his passing game this year is almost unbelievable. Could be a confidence thing, or his coaches taking the shackles off (likely a bit of each). I don't think he suddenly woke up in March 2022 with newfound passing ability.

I see him as a dangerous ball runner with a complimentary passing game. Good mix of skills. Doesn't do much kicking, but that could come with time too.

Fitzy on Kade

"His form for Newtown has gotten to a point where (picking) him was undeniable,” Fitzgibbon said.

“We had a couple of weeks where we were rotating between him and Lachie Miller. Both were really pressing for selection. He’s got really good balance and speed and footwork so hopefully we can see some of his best attributes tomorrow.

“It was a hard decision based on Lachie’s debut.

“If you have a rewards system based on NSW Cup, training, performance etc, then Kade got to a point where it warranted an opportunity.

There is nothing better than having competition for spots - especially when the team has bought into the vision of the coach and playing to impress.

Even better when the coach acknowledges this by rewarding the player with selection.

Sublime. That was Adam Dykes. The Dykes and Peachey show was the best ticket in town.

My first game ever at Shark Park was the one where Dykes threw a pass to himself.

Dykes vs Miller
Tries 0.6 vs 0.125
LB 1.2 vs 0.5
TB 5.2 vs 7.2
TA 0.7 vs 0.6
LBA ?? vs 0.8
Runs ?? vs 15.1
Run meters 130.6 vs 133.6
KRM 41.9 vs 34.2
Tackle 84.6% vs 75.2%

?? Denotes doesn’t appear in NSW Cup top 50 and I can’t otherwise see it

Miller has 11 games at FB 5 at FE
Dykes has 6 games at FB 7 in halves
So this does skew stats around a bit but I cbf comparing just FB games

Just to skew it even more, I think there may also have been 1-2 games where they were listed in one spot actually played the other. This happens fairly often in lower grades. E.g. Replace hooker pre-game with a middle who goes to lock, and the lock goes to hooker - but team list and stats shows the middle having played hooker.
