Why do some rounds only have 7 games? 8th game is bottom teams?

If Carrigan gets suspended, lock in Brisbane for 9th. They will lose at least 3, probably 4.

Also does anyone else seriously think we could make the GF this year? We are now second favourites to win the comp just infront of the cows on betting. More than likely we will finish 3rd and play the cows (or second and play them anyway). If we win that we will play the opposite prelim to panthers (expecting them to win week 1). That would give us a red hot crack at them in the big dance….

Or we could fail spectacularly and finish 3rd and bow out in straight sets..

Mate. It’s a Sharks forum. We all think we are going to win every year. Even after that 2008 prelim I was thinking 4 days later we’d get a call that the Storm had used an unauthorised water boy.

Anything is possible. We desperately need to address the errors before September.

I'm just taking it one week at a time.
Me too. First, let's win next week.

However, for argument;s sake, if I need to look ahead:

After that we are playing the Tigers. Tough game but I think we can win that. Cowboys are playing Roosters and I think this is the week where we may catch up with them.

The week after we are playing Sea Eagles and Cowboys with Rabbitohs. It is posssible both of us lose our games. It may come down to the last round where we go to Knights and they play with Panthers.

Somehow, I like our chances but a lot can change in 5 weeks (injuries, etc.)

I think this is likely the 8, the only team I think which might slip in is the raiders. I think given our draw we will finish either 2nd or 3rd and play the cowboys. Hopefully in Sydney. If we win that then anything can happen.

Surprised people putting cowboys in 2nd
They have one of the softer runs of most teams. Add to that their 2 point and huge +/- advantage over us. I think we only jump them if we manage to not drop a game.

Unless you think the Cowboys could finish 1st, which I think is more likely than them finishing 3rd given the Panthers have some tough games with neither of their halves available.

Ladder predictor gives me:

Panthers - 38
Cows - 38
Sharks - 36
Bunnies - 32

Broncos - 32
Storm - 30
Roosters - 30
Manly - 30

Eels - 30

For and against would then decide 1st, 4th-5th and 6-8th. But, if Penrith beat Canberra this week though then the MP is locked up. Can't see them losing to the Warriors in a month.

Sharks run, should win all 5

Dragons, Tigers, Sea Eagles, Bulldogs, Knights

Cowboys run

Bulldogs, Roosters, Warriors, Rabbitohs, Panthers

I feel our run is far easier than theirs

We'll drop a game, you know we will.
Probably mate. But Cowboys have a few hard games. I could good see them dropping at least 2 games.

We need to make sure we look at our for and against on this run

I'll go further than that, I reckon we are in danger of dropping two of those games. I can't nominate which ones but:

Dragons - it's a derby game, both sides are up for it no matter what form they are in or where they are on the table. Danger game
Tigers - With Douehi in their side now, he is the one that is getting results for them. Yes, Hastings is injured but Madden and Douehi as a halves pairing aren't too bad. Potential Danger game.
Manly - we never win at Brookie no matter the circumstances, definite danger game and one I think we'll definitely drop.
Bulldogs - they are playing a brand of football right now that is spirited, free and with nothing to lose. They are scoring points at will and while there are still holes in their defence, they are capable of scoring tries. Danger game
Knights - yes, one we should win easily but always hard at Newcastle to win.

Happy for anyone to disagree with me but with the errors we are continually making, the injuries we have at the moment, the clumsiness of our attack all point to us having to struggle through our games and rely on commitment, resolve and defence to get us over the line.

Even though all of these clubs are behind us at the moment, they will be busting their guts to get as many wins as possible before the season is out.
