Not when his main focus is staying in Australia for another year so his partner can become a citizen mate.
I think technically she just has to be in the country when a decision is made on granting her citizenship, so I wonder if there is a way to wrangle it.
Depends on timing of when she becomes eligible, if that's like March or something then could be approved at any stage during NRL season.
I know an athlete had one processed in like 6 weeks recently so he could rep Australia although in this instance she is not the athlete

Sign him for a year on 200k. Tell the media it was 600k. Everyone happy.
Honestly, I don't hate it. Touch base with Catalans to let them know we would be happy to release the moment her citizenship is granted if the timing for that could be favourable.

Fitz will be well aware of the chooks (speculation of course, no proof) approach to this sort of thing.
Wade wants another year at $500k. Give him another year at $300k and add the $200k shortfall to his club role salary package post career.
Everrybody wins.
Have to be careful with that, can still count against cap if you don't do it in the right way (ie if it is seen as incentive to sign for less now)

Having employed people on sponsorships and going through the citizenship process for years I can promise you that they will look for any reason to reject you and start the process again.

If you leave after applying they suspend the application until you return, at least they did in my experiences with it.

Yeah you can't really leave once the application is lodged. If they approve and you're not in country at the time you go back to square one I believe.
But you can travel before you lodge it - perhaps would need to retain a Aus address or something, I'm not sure. Or I think there was a rule about you can only be out of country for X amount of time at a time maybe?

Just wondering can she actually not leave Australia next year or is there a circumstance where (for example) the timing work for her to go with him to France for the first 6 months of the year before she lodges her application and then (unless approved quickly) her and kids would only be back in Sydney (with his family) like 4 months.

It was interesting to hear Aaron Woods really praising Wade Graham on Triple M a few weeks back... he said it's like having a coach or an extra player with Wade out on the field given how well he reads the play in both attack and defence. It was more than the stock standard compliments they give to every old teammate, he went out of his way to say it.

I know that doesn't change anything regarding his contract situation. Hopefully he's happy to stick around for a bargain deal.

I’d rather have him then not, depending on how much of our cap he’s taking up. I still think Wade can add some value to us for another season, even if its just a bench role.

You can leave if you lodge a return date and stick to it. But they still suspend the process until that date.

Has always had a high footy iq, one of the reasons I've always hated how terrible he is with the captain's challenge, drives me mental.

Think that the injuries and age have just taken away his reaction speed too much for him to capitalise on it now.

New position in footy. The “designated challenger”?

Not necessarily the captain. Just the bloke who is best at challenges.

Too trusting of his teammates

Remember when SJ missed a field goal and Graham challenged it... no way you do that unless SJ is swearing black (and white) and blue it was touched or something.

Maybe I just pay more attention to ours, I definitely see more of ours, but they do seem to have a low success rate.

Article from a month ago mentions we made 2nd most challenges of any team in 2020 so perhaps there was an element of if you don't use it you lose it and or getting a breather?

Yeah we seem worse than most. It really frustrates me when we give away our challenge early in the game. Once it's gone, the ref then has no fear of having a decision against your team overturned. I probably wouldn't use it before the 60th or 70th minute unless it's 100% blatantly obvious.

Wade replied with "Aaron... He's an okay bloke with a nice beard..."
