In your head, rent free
Souths are, wait for latrell to come back

saints are punching above their weight

can you call the cowbiys a top team when penrith beat them 26-0? judging by your logic, no

to be a top team you gotta make the finals, canberra should but a bad start will cost them, rooster may leapfrog the saints, may not

Penrith will do that to most teams mate, you know that.

They beat Storm by 26 as well, Storm not a top team?

they beat melbourne with no pap and no hughes, faux victory
No JT3 for Cowboys in the Panthers game.

Another factor if we are talking about the top 8 in the middle of June is that teams 4-8 have all gotten 2 points for the bye, but teams 9-11 have not.

If byes were worth zero, 3-11 looks like this:

Cowboys 22
Sharks 18
Broncos 18
Eels 18
Roosters 14 (next game v Panthers)
Bunnies 14
-
Manly 14 (next game v Storm)
Canberra 14
Dragons 14

Raiders/Dragons, Eels/Bunnies and Broncos/Cowboys also play each other next game. Losing to the Dogs would be a big missed opportunity. A win could put us 6 point lead of 7th even factoring in the bye.

You can talk about top teams NOW or back then, but we've seen most teams go hot and cold over this season. Raiders, Dragons and the Dogs are suddenly looking pretty good. Parra, us and even Melbourne has shown they can have a wheel fall off occassionally. Newy and NZ are rooted. Only Penrith could claim to be a top side all season.

Canberra is one of the better teams?
Against us they are. Have they beaten us 8 of the last 9, or is it 7 of the last 8 encounters? Drives me insane how their forward role straight up Route 66. But Moyza & friends almost got us home, but for a Ramian brain fade.

"Yeah he played well but why can't he play that well against the better teams?"

Because they are literally a better team and thus, by definition, more difficult to play well against.
It's a tough concept.
Good players play good against good teams. .Even when nothing is on they make something happen. Literally happens all the time.

Tough concept maybe too tough for a player like Moylan - for Moylan he’s shown he needs to be playing on the front foot, good teams don’t let that happen often.

I reckon South’s will more than likely miss the 8, there run home is not great & whilst they get Latrell back I won’t be surprised if he takes atleast 4 weeks to get humming in games, they don’t have a spare 4 weeks to wait for him to click.

How many players actually do this? Maybe a dozen or so star players like Munster, Teddy, Turbo, etc. have this in them regularly, or in the past Slater, GI, SJ, Radrada. Strike players do it, but they also have other holes in their game (D. Fiifta, Staggs, Roberts).

Moylan is neither a star player or a strike player. Nobody is arguing that.

If you are talking about things like barging over from dummy half (Cheese/Manu) or scoring from a kick (Nanai) - that's hardly a situation where "nothing is on". They have to be attacking the opposition line to do that in the first place. That only happens when other "good players" do their job to get the ball there.

Fox reporting Moylan close to a 2yr deal worth 800k

Still have a preference for him to be retained on 1yr with option but 400k a year isn't a terrible result if true.

Yeah it’s ok but I still feel uneasy about year 2..

As do I mate. Guess the big selling point is that this is the first time in his career that he's been in genuinely great shape and hasn't been having those injury issues.

Feels harsh given he’s had more than a 4 year career

Wonder if we could pay him 500k to make the second season a CO…
