Guessing Tigers see him as a fullback? Can't lose him after losing Metcalf.

This is what re-signing Moylan gets us.
If Fitz and Mooney really want Dykes then they will sign him.

Unless of course Tigers are prepared to pay way overs (for a guy that's probably 12+ months away from regular first grade) at which case what can you do?

There's been plenty of talk about Dykes from the Tigers for months... be surprised if it happens while they have no coach.
Also the fact we have moved him to the halves for the Jets suggests we are trying to keep him and give him a path to first grade.

Unless he signed before Madge you’re an idiot if you sign with them. Money or not it’s not a smart move and not like he is desperate for money I’d imagine ie no kids, or mortgage etc

Going good isn't he? Smart decision Fitz/Mooney

Exactly what I think we are doing.

His best path to first grade for us is either Moylan keeps going well and Trindall doesn't so we keep Moylan a year and groom Dykes to replace or that Trindall keeps grabbing his opportunity better so that spending to keep Moylan looks surplus to requirement when we have young Dykes available to us. Sharks may even be trying to lock Dykes up before we move on Moylan, we don't know.

Realistically as apezza said he's probably not a regular first grade for a decent side in 2023 but in saying that if Dykes can improve his D work in the next part of this season Hynes is already playing such a dominant role it's not that crazy he could slide into our team.
Sharks as Hynes' partner has to be a very attractive though vs being the next Laurie who just gets bombed constantly in bad field position and loses every week.

Kills me when I think where we would have been if we won the two games we did not show up (Raiders and Broncos).
Hurts but most except the real top sides can bemoan the same things.

Even Panthers and Storm must be watching some Eels performances thinking how did we let that rabble beat us.

Cows dropped round 1 to Bulldogs by 2 points and also lost to Warriors by 1.
Brisbane got fairly well beaten by Warriors and beaten by just 4 by Roosters.
Amongst others Eels have lost to Tigers & Bulldogs.

All those sides would look at results like those and think what should have been.

Could only help Trindall to make a halves spot a proper three horse race next year. Either help him improve or to resolve the question of where he sits in the pecking order. You'd then hope to see an heir emerge for 2024, when Moylan can slip more into a mentor role (if he's still contracted).

I can't imagine he ends up with a very good path to FG at the Tigers either. Next year they will have Hastings, Douehi and Brooks in the halves, of which the former 2 they will be looking to re-sign long term. Unless he backs himself as a fullback and to take over Laurie. I could understand if he was getting FG spot offered but I can't see it happening there either.

Laurie has been pretty crap this year, I reckon there's every chance they want Dykes as a FB.
