I read that Keary's deal at the Roosters is back-ended and he'll be on 1.3 million next year. No idea whether this is just a wild stab in the dark by the journo, probably is.
The roosters always get the journos to do their dirty work. They do it all the time they did it to us when they wanted to get josh Morris from us.

Crichton is much better as an edge than in the middle, and with us re-signing Nikora probably and having Wilton (He's legit rep quality) he just doesn't fit. Only for unders, but we won't get him for unders, Rugby Union will offer him a truckload. I imagine Tigers or even Souffs will try signing him, both sides are missing an edge. It depends if there is bad blood with Madge or the Rabbitohs I guess, dunno if there is outside of the fans.

Yeh agree. I think now that Fitz has chosen Nikora he is indicating that our edges are sorted. Loos like Fitz is going for the smaller, mobile pack that can just go full throttle for 80.

kearys over rated and considering we payed 600k for hynes, i wouldnt pay close to what he'll be asking for.

Tiegs on track to be just as good, if not better than crighton and currently half the price. no thanks from me

i think some people on here get excited about signing new players, and after someone has a less than average game they put them to the sword.

it'll take a long time for them to realize that fitz only recruits where he feels he needs to, and would rather keep the squad in house

Yep good post. There's a fair bit of "the grass is greener......" going on atm.

We've lost the plot if we recruit another second rower to push Tieg to the bench, it's completely unnecessary.

Isn’t Matterson a middle now?

Matto playing a great role off the bench coming into the middle for the Eels.
Cant see him pushing Wilton out even if he does join- which i honestly dont see happening with Dolphins now sniffing around and Eels about to renegotiate with him (deapite tellung him he wasn't part of their plans for 2023 initially)

Yeah but Parra didn't sign him to play from the bench, they're paying a fair chunk for him to play that kind of role.

If we could get him at a decent price to play that role, fine. But I very much doubt that would be the case.

Not sure edge backrower is a position where you want to pay overs for in the current NRL... and Keary is one head knock away from a couple of months on the sideline.

Dolphins reportedly offering $500k for him.
If we were to sign him as a bench impact he'd command no more than $400k you'd think.
Had we signed him to play right edge itd be different but weve obviously tabled a substantial offer to Nikora so that aint happening

Yeah, I've got the same feeling. We'd end up with a good but expensive Matterson, then need to try and keep Teig at the money he'll command for his next contract. I'd rather have Teig for the best part of the next decade and battle the salary cap less. It'll help keep the core of the squad together, and I'd see Teig as part of that core squad now.

Time for Dykes to decide if he wants to debut sooner, or better.

In the list of options for this weekend there would have been a fair gap between 1 Hynes and 1 Dykes but I think that gap gets a lot shorter by 12 months from now.

WK a fair path blocker though
Could see himself a good pathway to first grade by signing with Tigers and subtly dropping a few comments in ear shot of Laurie (yeah just excited to be here, management seemed very keen to get me here and hopeful I can fix up their fullback problem)
Laurie’s form dropped after he got scolded in media for playing pokies at 9pm so I reckon you could whiteant him.
And become the under pressure fullback of a **** team.

To complicate his path here we have Taukamo coming into our top 30 next year too.
At one stage this season we had amongst the best NRL*, Cup, Flegg and HM fullbacks

*Kennedy was amongst the best on form, still a few others with much higher ceilings
