Are you prepared to lose him to another club that may offer 2 years?
Yep, I’ll admit he’s playing good footy for us for most of the games this season but for me, 9 games into this season don’t outweighs approx 60% of games played the previous 4 seasons.
With all respect to him, he can break @ any time & im not fussed having a guy we pay anywhere from a 350k to 500k wage sitting on the sidelines

Yeh I am, I expect that doesn’t sit well with 50% of fans but he’s got form for not being able to string games together over a fair stretch now, here’d hoping, the 9 games he’s already played turn into a majority of games played for the remainder of the season.

You're entitled to your opinion mate. Like you I'd prefer to only sign him for one year but given his form someone else will offer two.

I like the footy we're playing, I'd be signing him for two even though that goes against what I said a few weeks ago.

Not sure on the state of our cap but I'd front load a bit in the first year so the second is much lower.

Front loading not a bad shout, I just don’t trust him to throw him the 2 yrs

And I'd expect we're shopping around the whole time.

Could be a WIN/WIN
Good money next year , minimal the year after and cash to splash 2nd year as insurance
ALTHOUGH , Might end up tricky to manage something like 950K to stay 2 years .
Reckon offers of say 1M for 2 years elsewhere might be on the table

is front loading still allowed? and if so why the **** is it still allowed?

A few weeks ago i was against re signing moylan on a 2 year deal.

But you are all right, there is nobody else on the market who can the job he is currently doing.

So in saying that, i would offer him the 2 year deal. However for his second year i would put in some KPI'S ect to keep the bloke motivated and hungry.

have you seen want happened to Wade's body keeping him hungry ?

If we offer $850-900k and another interstate club (ie dolphins, titans) is offering $1m in total over the 2 yrs I reckon he stays.

The extra $100-150k will likely go in tax and relocation costs anyway, plus we are on the up from an already solid base and are only getting better and closer to a premiership window than the ones chasing him. He isn’t getting any younger!

As far as I am aware front loading is allowed it’s backloading that kept causing too much salary cap management stress

Yes that's right. Remember we're paying Finucane a heap less in his final year.

A lot of questions re Moylan in the interviews on Sharks website with Dale and Ronnie.

Not that they would say anything different but they were both keen to keep him in the side.

Wonder if the 2nd year on a little less but it’s in his favour would be best for everyone.

Come 2024 if we really see our future in a new young half like say Burton and then we snap him up, Moylan kind of becomes surplus except for injuries.
If Moylan had a good 2023 and thinks he has a lot more in him, he might think it’s best to chase a more lucrative 2 year deal elsewhere to finish off. Might help keep him hungry for that new option too.

Then works for us too providing we have depth in the halves and fullback as it will free up his decent money.

There’s a lot of confidence in those hammies & calves that up until the last 9 weeks haven’t managed to not tear or strain the 4 yrs prior,

Doe Fitz have the dice to roll? 😂

Can we give Moylan 2 years but his calves / hammies one year with incentives?

I am more than a little concerned about Moyzas calf’s and hammies being exposed to 80 minutes in a water logged, dug up, sodden pitch this coming Sunday.

One saving grace - is that it is not waterlogged & 8 degrees.

I recall both Johnson & Moylan came apart in wet games last year - fingers crossed.

As Cronulla is in NSW they have all been training & playing on wet pitches since the preseason so any sunshine not rain could be the concern .
